If you install the one from prophecies and add a factions key, you still have the same client, people can have factions and nightfall on their computer without knowing it. For example if a prophecies only player puts " -image" behind the command line in the properties of the shortcut, it'll download nightfall and factions files too, same thing in other situations of having the game. No, but when I inserted the factions cd to install it and what not...it didn't complete the installation of getting files it went to 67% and stopped...and thanks Njaiguni...hopefully this client from the site will work if the one from the factions cd is busted >.<

It could very well be that your client is corrupted, since that happened a while ago, around factions. There will happen nothing to your account when you uninstall Guild Wars. If you download the client from www.guildwars.com, it may solve your problem. Good luck.

Then it's your virusscanner, or you haven't closed all applications and doing too much (or anything) while installing.

i installed the guild wars from the site, and nothing was open >.<...it still said a serious error has occured....I wasn't touching the cpu while it was installing etc....and factions is still busted >.<

~Meh, I'll probably just exchange it for a non-defective one.

Well, i just learned I wasn't supposed to install both prophecies and factions using the cd's...I didn't know that once you install one using the cd, you just add the access key, but I don't think that could change much....cuz I then uninstalled them all when factions didn't work and only used one cd.
But yea, it says a serious error has occurred that prevents the program from continuing to run; however, your help can help prevent this error from occuring in the future by reporting the error to AreaNet. etc...and blah blah..i've sent like 10 of these, and no help...

Oh yea, it may be easier for us to talk on guild wars or something that way we are able to try and solve this problem through talking at that moment then having to refresh this screen? idk

Well, like I said a few posts earlier, wether you install the game with the cd from Prophecies, Factions or with the online client, it's all the same. Adding keys is all you need.

Hrm...I got a reply by the whole NC support saying that my system requirements may not allow me to play the game. But I don't understand how I'm able to play prophecies fine with no problems like what i've encountered in factions with the whole errors, and what not and disconnections...

Also, did i forget to mention that my hardrive is stated as to not supporting the video card, since my cpu crashed once before, so my cousin had to fix it by removing the hardrive and putting in a new one...

Also, I'm using a Windows XP right now, Home Edition. It's Intel(R), Pentium(R), 4 CPU 1500MHz, 1.49 GHz, 512MB of RAM. Also, my C: has a capacity of 15.60 GB, and 5.39 GB Free space, which is 34% free space....could that be the problem? So would getting a new cpu like allow me to play factions with no problem, despite the whole data repair issue and what not?

If you're video card isn't supported, then I think it's the video card. Also, that harddrive is a little bit too small. U can get a 40 gb harddisk for less then 50 bucks. I can't really give opinions on videocards, because I use a onboard one and it works fine. I'm a little bit technical and I know some of computers, but I can't help you that much when it comes to the videocard and support issues. Maybe make a new thread with a title which points out "Computer supports Prophecies but no Factions" or something like that.

Rofl when it comes to cpu talk i'm LOST. I'm just glad that for now I can play proph. Also I emailed those playNC people on guildwars for answers, they are thinking that it is because of my video card too....
