A new build of guildwar is available.
yes, like the title says, it keeps showing that msg during the game play--again!!!
this is my month of the curse: first i got connecting issue (download progress stayed at 0%), then it became a code 58 problem (i use cable, with no router, could get on internet and other online games, just not guildwars) for the entire "double gold drop from chest" weekend, after i format the hard drive and reinstall guild wars, it was good for 2 days, then broken again tonight when the new build came out (should be the winter festival). i tried restart computer, close firewall, but when i rerun guild wars, it won't download anything, after i log in, "a new build of guildwar is available" just keep puping up, and i couldn't see my friends even we were in the same town same district (they've download the new update). same problem happened once before but some how got fixed itself after few days, but i don't want to wait for that long, ffs it made me miss the bouns weekend already, don't want to miss the wintersday festival. i'm trying to download everything with -image, but the speed is very low(0-10kb/sec, yet other internet stuff can be download @ 1xxkb/sec).
so if any expert out here knows what's going on, please help me fix this problem, (i've sent the issue to plaync, but they are too suck and slow, not hoping much from them).

Well if your computer is not behind a router firewall and you have the windows firewall disabled, then there is no reason you should not be able to download the update (unless your ISP is blocking the port, but this is not happing as you can play the game). My best guess is that your trying to run the update as a regular user that does not have permission to write to the Guild Wars folder. Try logging out, then logging in as a Windows Administrative user, and running the game. If the update goes through, and you get to the login screen, all went well and you can logout and play as a regular user. Otherwise, I'm not sure, unless a virus or something else you dont know about is blocking the port, there is no reason you should not be able to get the update.

Its not you guys, it's GW
I had the same problem last night. I can't download the update or it freezes or stalls 1/2 way through. I waited when it was stuck for 20 mins with nothing happening. I coudn't even ctrl, alt, delete, had to hard down my sytem. I too can run other games, get on the internet (cable of course) with no problems... I checked my modem speed and it's fine, no firewall, router.. etc... I have downloaded updates in the past with no problems. Only have trouble when its a big event. Its not my system, since its self built with top of the line stuff in it, not my ISP, or modem... It's the guild wars server. I was on at midnight last night doing this so there would be less people in my area on, got the same thing. Since GW claims to have sold so many copies of there game, then invest in updating or increasing servers. If this keeps happening to others, where they cant participate in the even until its almost over, then you are just going to upset and lose people.
GOOD LUCK

Another thing you guys need to check besides administrator rights it the type of File system you are Running.
If you are running FAT 16 or FAT 32 that is your problem as file sizes in those are limited to 4GB i think....maybe less. But what u need to do is convert to NTFS (if u are using windows)
Do i quick search on yahoo to figure out how to do this.. Also try running guild wars with the -image switch.

I have FAT32...and I can play prophecies fine with no problem. My cpu crashed once before, so the hardrive or whatever that came with this cpu was replaced with a different one my cousin put in, and it says the video card isn't supported...I can still play prophecies fine though, but when trying to play factions it keeps disconnecting me...Factions I had did a data repair once, but it didn't fix the problem that I had with it...any possible known solutions as to why?
