You don't get a reply within 1 minute - BE PATIENT. We don't have members here just sitting in Tech Corner waiting to respond to threads like these within a minute...
As for your question, if it's downloading slow, it's probably either due to your internet connection being slow, you have spyware (run spyware scans; ad-aware, etc), someone else in your house is downloading, or ANet servers are just slow right now.

With all the people on since the Wintersday decorations are still in place (last-minute selling, etc.) the servers are in fact having a bit of trouble right now. I asked my guild and we've all been experiencing a noticeable bit of lag that we don't usually get. And the download speeds have been pretty slow for a while. Of course, there could be other things, such as spyware, slow internet connection, etc., but even with a perfectly clean computer, you're probably not going to get anywhere near your normal download speed when downloading GW stuff. I get 400 KB/s on a good day with GW, with an average download speed of 1 MB/s.
Best bet if you don't want to wait is leave the computer on overnight while you sleep :P

A virus scanner and/or firewall can slow it down too. Make sure you have a static IP-address and forwarded the ports of GW if you have a firewall or a router. If you have a router, follow the instructions on this site: http://www.portforward.com/

It'd be pretty useful if the OP posted their systems specs, that way we could get a better idea as to what the problem may be.

It may also be because he is also still in the process of getting all of the updates to the game.
Even after installing from a CD, it takes a while to get all of the updates to the game. Most of us do the trick with -image, so we get all of the updates at one time. Look at the top-right corner of the log-on screen, and see if the little lightning bolt is there. If so, it means that you are still getting game updates.
Once you have all of them (and the Wintersday event) is over, things will speed up a lot. You can also try sticking to Factions until the event is over, since they are suffering less slowdowns then Proph or NF is.

It really shouldnt matter if you have a static IP - I do not, I have dynamic IP that switches whenever it feels like it, so that i can run 2 PCs with only one cable modem.
GW works fine this way. . . .

NCSoft advices to do so though. And without a static IP you can't forward ports.
