Can I Lily (Laptop :P) Play GW
well hello i finally got my laptop back form repairs cause my ram decided that it wanted to use 1GB instead of 2 xD so ya my laptop is usually by main computer but i am building one as soon as my pieces come in (eBay xD rofl), so i would like to know if my laptop can play Guild Wars and if the integrated graphics on my desktop Motherboard can play guild wars (im going to use integrated until i get enough money for a graphics card... a decent one) here are the following.
Laptop: Acer Aspire 5112wlmi
CPU: AMD Turion 64 x2 TL-50 (1.6 GHz)
RAM: 2GB DDR2 533MHz
VGA: ATI Radeon Mobility X1600 (128MB dedicated + 384MB Shared)
(NOTE: do u think u can play GW without a mouse and just use a touchpad??)
NASTY GRAPHICS:
NVidia GeForce 6150 w/ nForce 430, 128MB Shared.

The laptop should run GW just fine. Not so sure about the 6150 though. Used to play on 6100, it was playable but the low fps is noticeable. 6150 would probably be the same, with a few extra fps.

Which one? both will work, but the first one wont get above 30fps i think
everything else will run fine, and i played GW on a touchpad for 3 months before i got a mouse. works fine, but i wouldnt reccomend high level monking

I have an HP DV8315nr with 2 gigs of ram and an ATI Radeon 200m with 128 megs of dedicated ram and I get anywhere from 30-50 fps, but i do have my graphics settings lowered quite a lot. The 1600 should do fine just play with the graphics settings til you find what will give the best balance between lag and eye-candy.

newer laptops can run the game fine, integrated graphics or not.
i recently tried GW on a friend's laptop. it's got intel integrated graphics. even with everything turned up (and i mean, everything), it can still manage 25-35fps in towns.
as for geforce 6150 running the game slow... keep in mind that the lower 6xxx series tends to be worse than the 5800. my geforce 5500 PCI (yes, PCI) can manage well into the 30's and 40's in an instance.

Same here, my old rig had a 5200 PCI and before it really become too long in the tooth (as slow as it could get, IDE hard drives, PCI graphics and a Socket A 2400+ Sempron) and, at worst i got 12 FPS

Take it for what it's worth, but I game on both my laptop and desktop, mainly my laptop because it's newer and has better hardware.
My laptop is a Compaq NX9420 with 2 Gig system memory, dual-core 1.8 p4 processor, and an ATI Radeon x1600, which by itself has 256MB onboard memory. Running GW at the highest settings I get 35-45 FPS in combat, no problem. Even in places like Vizunah Square.
My desktop, until recently, I had a problem playing on. It has a p4 1.8GHz processor, 1 Gig system memory, and an AGP Nvidia 5200 (128MB). I was getting crappy FPS even on the lowest settings until I added '-heapsize 512000' to my GW shortcut. That fixed the problem, and running on medium settings I get about 25-35 FPS.
Hardware is one thing when it comes to gaming, but it also comes down to what's running in the background and such, and how your game is configured.

Well its obviously not your RAM 'cuz 2gb is plenty to run GW. So its either your processor or your graphics card. My guess is that it may be a combination of both.
Since you cant change either of those in the laptop, lower the graphics settings on the game a little bit, and don't run background programs while playing GW. If your running programs or downloading anything while playing it will use CPU and internet, possibly slowing your gameplay down. Thats about all you can do for the laptop.

yes but a dual core turion should handle it nicely even though its clocked at 1.6, AMD usually has weird clock magic so its like a dual 2.0 atleast due to AMD magic as i like to call it, also i have an X1600 mobility card which should be good enough to run GW nicely as it does other things at sexyness :P, so ya i dunno whats wrong. i did some process work on my computer and found out that i run about 60 processes at startup which is retarded so i looked up what was running and now i run about 30 ~ 32 on average. so i will now run GW and see what happens as the stress on my CPU is now alot lower i would assume

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW ok so 30 processes deleted really makes a difference i now get 45 ~ 60 FPS on average and when im clustered with people i get about 27 ~ 35 FPS, so if anyone also has an acer laptop either delete close the program empowering as that took up alot, also u have a ton of services u really dont need like ATI catalist i will never use the hotkeys so diable it plus the best settings for most of the 3d work is program choice so ya u really dont need the catalyst, there are a ton of other things u dont need just google every process and use msconfig (run) and go here

I have a Geforce 5200 128 MB graphics card and I can play Guild wars
My stats are
993 MHz
512 RAM
128 MB Old Graphics card.
I have a old comp but it runs ok and the graphics arn't great but the game is still fun.
I think with your comp you will run better than me.
I have about 12-18 FPS and I don't mind it.

See sometimes it's not always the computer. I try to keep up with the basic stats of Processor/Graphics Models, but I've gotten behind lately. (I got a new laptop to play with).
But yea 60 processes is alot. I got up to 52 once and i started turning programs off. 30 processes is probably about what you start with a clean computer (before delete some of M$'s useless stuff) and i usually run a little above 40ish constantly. But grats now you can play at normal fps again!

actually a clean windows install is like 17 processes or something like that, but whats weird is the FPS i get in towns its usually high like 57 but i get 1 ~7 for a split second which then causes annoying lag for the split second and ins noticable, is there some work being done on the servers where this is happening to everyone or is Lily just a piece of S*** :P
