Extremely Slow Loading Times and a Mic question
Alrighty, keep in mind I'm not good with computers, so try to be as detailed as possible if you will.
My problem is this. I just put GW on my laptop recently and have been playing it on there. But everytime I go to a new area and end up getting new files for it, it goes agonizingly slow. The other night I wanted to go to the Underworld with a few friends and instead ended up trying to load 300 files for an hour and a half. And even then, when I came back and it was finally almost done, it still had one more file to go. And I waited 10 minutes for it to load that one file before just giving up.
The thing I've noticed about it though is that it's not actually loading any files at a specified speed. It used to go "Loading 3.4 MB (123 KB/Sec)" or something along those lines. The times this has been happening (and the Underworld isn't the only example) it's just said "Decompressing" the entire time. So, in short, I'm wondering if there is a reason that it goes so slow and any way to speed it up.
As for the Mic question, most of my guild uses TS and I was curious as to whether or not this Mic that's built into the laptop could let me talk to them. It doesn't by default, tried that. I was wondering if there was something I had to do to turn it on and if anyone knew how to do that.
Thanks for any help you can give me, greatly appreciate it.

Right ok, follow this on both your laptop and desktop for better game enjoyment
1/ make a copy of the Guild Wars icon on your desktop so you have 1 that says "Guild Wars" and one that says "Copy of Guild Wars"
2/ on the "copy of Guild Wars" icon, right click it and goto properties
3/ In the properties window that comes up, look for the "target" box (it will have something similar to "D:\Games\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" in it), now in that box, leave it as it is and after a space type, -image
you should now see something similar to this in the box:
"D:\Games\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image
if you have, good job, click Apply and then OK
4/ Rightclick on the same icon again and rename it to Guild Wars -image
5/ once its renamed, double click this icon and the game will connect, check for updates and if there are any, it will download them and decompress them for you
I recomend you now click and drag this icon into you start menu under start up, this will then automatically check for updates when you load up windows and sort them out accordingly if there are any
Congratulations, you are now fully upto date on Guild Wars updates and your loading times will be increased as it doesn't need to decompress any files to use them

You can use this mic, but as its a boom mic and probably a crappy one, i wouldn't...
goto your local computer/hardware store and pick up a cheap headset to get yourself started and your guild can tak you through setting it up and getting going

I guess this proves how bad with computer I am, cause I got lost at the first step. I don't even know how to "make a copy" of it or anything.

Right click your "Guild Wars" icon on your desktop, and click copy. Then right click on your desktop(anywhere, doesn't matter) and click paste. That should make a copy of your "Guild Wars" icon.

What are the specs of your computer? In order to find that, click Start, then choose Run. In the box, type in "dxdiag" (without quotes) and hit enter. Under the System tab (the tabs are the things across the top of the window), there's a section called System Information. Please post your System Model, Processor, Memory, and Page file info.
Regarding the mic, does it work at all under Windows? Click Start>All Programs>Accessories>Entertainment>Sound Recorder. Click the record button and scream into the mic and see whether it records. If it does, then your mic is fine, and the problem lies with your TS configuration. If not, click Start>Settings>Control Panel. Click on Sound and Audio Devices. Under the Audio tab, click the Volume button under Sound recording. Make sure Microphone is selected and the volume slider is all the way up.
