[internet] GW vs Internet
I need help, I can't log on guild wars. 1 or 2 second after I click on the GW link, I get the "Check your internet connection or try again in a few minutes".
I got a small update this morning (1 file), I had downloaded the previous updates this week.
I uninstalled the game and trying to reinstall lead to the same result. Since i'm writing this, you can see my "normal internet" still works fine. My firewall should start along with the computer, I can't access it through the windows (XP) interface, but it would have asked to let GW use the internet so it may not be active. Any insight about what it could be?
By the way, I asked a frind in a nearby town, he can log in fine.
EDIT: It seems like i'm getting even more stupid with each passinf days, if some one can move this in the technical corner.

Well, unless you recently installed a new firewall or made changes, it's probably not that since you have accessed the game previously. Reinstalling the game for connection problems is most likely a waste of your time.
Have you reset you router/cable modem? Also, disabling and then, re-enabling the network adapter as well. These things help the system reinitialize. If you haven't rebooted your PC in a long time, do that too.
Often Guild Wars won't be able to connect even though normal internet is working. So power off the cable modem or reboot the router as a possible way to clear it up.

If What Valit said dosent work, Try doing a system restore to a previous date when it was working.

Now, I agree that rolling back to a "good" System Restore point can help some situations but be careful when doing so if there is any possibility of a mal-ware infestation.
And, it could be the equivalent of swatting a fly with a sledgehammer and missing.
But, if you are a "fiddler" and a "constant tweaker" restore points can give you a safety net.

I've had exactly the same problem since about the same time yesterday, I was playing friday and it worked fine then tried to log in at about 3pm yesterday and it wouldn't work.
I'm not running a firewall and my router is made by SMC, but apparently past problems have been caused by corrupted DNS information at ISP's so what's your ISP?

thanks for the options kuldebar, i'll try some of these.
The reboot is very unlikely, i'll try to play with the rooter a bit more.
EDIT: shadow - To answer your question my ISP is Videodery, but they are... rather local. Out of curiosity : what did you do to solve it?

What firewall are you using exactly. I used to have Nortron Interet Security and it's pure crap. Most of the time, it asked what to do if a program using internet was lunched and i just had to choose to allow it. Sometimes though, it didn't ask to allow the program. You might have to go tweak your firewall settings a bit if that's the case.
If your ISP has problems, there's nothing you can do about it, you have to wait for them to fix the problem themselves.

There seems to be alot of probs since the last updates. You dat file could of become corrupt. Defragmenting and reinstalling GW wont work so dont waste your time on that. Try getting hold of one of your buddies dat file and see if will work then.

I had this problem for about 28 hours in total... I reinstalled multiple times, did everything that people had suggested in the past... nothing.
Then I rebooted my router and it worked

Don't think it's this since I unstalled (alway the first thing you try, go figure) and still can't connectto start reinstalling.
