GW locking up after Hard Mode update
Since the Hard Mode update last week, without giving any error codes or BSOD, GW has locked up 6 times and I have had to reboot to clear it. I have not made any system or hardware changes, nor is it overclocked or over heating.
I have had no problems up until now.
XP Pro SP2 with all updates
Pentium D 3.0
512M RAM - VM 768M
Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT PCI-E 256M driver 9.1.4.7 08-11-2006

gw.exe --image
this will redownload the entire game,
sometimes if a update fails, the game gets currpted and you get weird results

Prior to HM I'd had one lockup in 18 months and hundreds of hours play. Last night I had 2 in 20 minutes. Both times reconnect was successful (never appreciated how good that feature was).
I'm putting it down to gremlins for now, but might try that full dl if it persists.
Cheers.

I try to run the -image switch once a week, update or not.
As for more RAM, I agree, I've probably put that off as long as I can. And my graphics shouldn't be maxed out but I'll double check this evening when I get home.
Thanks for the input guys.

-image will only download everything that you don't already have, but might fix the .dat file in the process. To do a full download delete the .dat file first.
I would just try a -image first. Only if that doesn't work should you delete the .dat and start from scratch - it's a big download.

The game has locked on me about 3 times since the Hard Mode update, every time the game crashes I have to use ctrl alt del to kill the process which takes me about 20 tries before it actually kills it.
I get repeating sounds when it locks up which is very annoying I've never had this problem before.
My system specs are:
2GB RAM
AMD 64 X2 3800+
Geforce 6800 XT 256MB
So I highly doubt ram is causing the issue, with the Hard Mode update didn't they change some sound code? I imagine there could be a bug with the sound, also my sound card is on board.
Sometimes during the game I also notice sounds lock up for a few seconds (repeat) but then go back to normal. I might have to check my sound settings in game to see if I have it set too high for my card.

One thing I did not mention in my OP, what was I doing when the lock up occured. I have rolled out a new Tyrian ranger survivor/GMC/protector and catching every quest I can along the way before I move forward in the game. As we all know, the GMC requires allot of camera movement getting in and out of nooks and corners. I'm guessing that all of the character and camera movement for the GMC is taking it's toll somewhere.
I did reduce my graphics settings to medium and I took it easy last night with a different character hitting some of the easier to get to treasure chests and had no problems.
