hi, my video card just died.was using a GeForce NV44V 6200 SE PCI-Express

and my mother baord is a µATX Sunshine (GA-8I915PM Ver 1.1).

what new video card should i get for it match my motherboard and is powerful enough for run gw and its upcoming addons/others like gw2 or else without problem, at max resolution?

and possibily not uber expensive

well you can get the GeForce 7900 series....for around $160 or less...although I don't know what you consider uber expensive...and I am not positive that the 7900 series will run GW2 etc with fantastic looks etc...I would wait for someone other than myself to make some recommendations. Although if you could provide the amount of your Power Supply i think it would help a bit. and give an actual price range...

honestly, for that price range, you are not going to find much anything that will hold you longer then 6 months, if that. However, if that is your price limit, I recommend either the ATI Radeon X1650 XT, or the nVidia GeForce 7600 GT, as both are at the price limit you set, and provide about the same performance, with the ATI card out pacing the nVidia here and there.

Also, make sure your power supply is decently powerful, anything less then 400 watts might give some problems depending on how many other things you have in your system that need power.

You'd have to open your case up and look for a sticked on the power supply to find the wattage of it. Or, if you bought it from a place, try looking up the model number to find what wattage it is.

Another good stat to find is the +12v amperage. I forget exactly what amperage is the bare minimum to have on the 12v rail, but I'm sure someone will post more info on this area.

Ahh, well, I'm not sure exactly what the prices for components are in Europe, but the Radeon X1950 PRO is about $150-160 USD, and is a pretty good performer. Another possability is the GeForce 7900 GS, since it has a decently good overclocking reputation, and runs a tiny bit cheeper (with a little worse stock performance). Though they will likely not play games in 2010, either should last you until DX10 hardware gets above the joke phase its in right now in the budget section, and possibly beyond depending on how hard you like to game.

found also a nVidia GeForce 8500 GT - 256Mo - PCIE for 88euros.what seem ok.

you think its a good choice for a card? and with a 250 wats power supply it would be ok for my comp?

i would recommend getting either an nvidia 7900GS or an 8600GT
from ati, consider the x1950pro
some a cheaper point of view, the x1950GT is not a bad choice either.
your 250W power supply is too risky to use if you want on buying any of the graphic cards i recommended. all of them except the 8600GT require an extra pci-e power cord which you 250w power supply probably does not support.
look into getting a 450-500w power supply
good brands to buy are : antec, seasonic, silverstone, corsair, fsp, pc power & cooling, enermax.
sometimes you may find a cheap 500w powersupply for $50 compared to $100. they may be good or bad, best to do some research on the reliability of the Power supply if they are cheap like that.
