Default Direct X 9

I used the little dxdiag tool on the run option to check what version of Direct X I had installed on my computer and it says it's 9.0c but when I check in the guild wars options it says it's using a Direct X 8 renderer. Why is it like that and how do I change it? I want to use the new modding program but I don't think it works with direct x 8.

Thanks in advance

Erm, Geforce 4 mx isnt even a DX 8 card. They removed DX8 capabilities from the Geforce 4 mx to cut costs.

Seriously though, you may want to consider an upgrade.

Woah.... Thats sad. If you dont have an AGP/Pci-E port then get a Radeon 9250... It'll be enough to run Guildwars on optimal settings (Albeit it being a dx9 wannabe card)

They didn't remove anything, the GeForce 4 MX never had anything to do with the "real" DX8- capable GeForce 4 series - the GF 4 MX graphics chip is more similar to a GeForce 2's. Must've had something to do with marketing.

I remember how game devs went nuts about the idea of people mistakenly buying GeForce 4 MX's for the latest games meant for GeForce 4's, only to find their card had NO programmable shader support at all.

Why? I run GW on one of our three PC's with the same same Graphic Card and a PIII 800 MHz CPU. There is quite no difference to our P4 2,8 Mhz and FX5700 and 7600GS machines.

But of course GW:EN or at least GW2 will put an end to this.
