Nice, I like t3h XL versions of cards
I keep my area pretty neat, except the irony is my computer is a mess. I need to probably switch to water cooling and get a new case and do some cable sleeving.

The green tubes are what carry chilled water throughout this system. Oddly enough, its called "water cooling"
Looks like a custom kit too :O

Basically chilled water is sent through tubes and it goes to components of the computer, mainly the CPU and GPU, and is recycled and goes through again. It drops temps significantly if you get a custom kit from somewhere like www.dangerden.com

You really do not need a super high end card. I think Guild Wars relies more on RAM or Procceser speed. I am running an Radeon 8500 with all High Settings, Reflections on Default, Enabled post process effects, 1280x1024, with no AA. Looks pretty nice to me. O yea, I also have an Athlon XP 2400+ with 512mb SDRAM.

Okay, I'm looking into building my own custom pc and i'm quite the noob, so could you tell me how I can tell if a motherboard is compatible with a certain type of graphics card?
I want to get the
"SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON 9600XT Atlantis 256MB DDR"
according to the first post its not the best card out there, but i'm on a budget and this one is only AUS$169
Is there any specific type of motherboard I need to purchase?

my Shuttle XPC can't take any cards better than a 9600XT. AFAIK, the 9600 is the best video card that doesn't require humongous fans that take up 2 slots.

hmm...you didn't add the X800XL PCIe card. From what I read on ATI cards the XL is a better overall card then these two.

Wow! It never ends does it? Wonder how long until a 1Gb GPU unit comes out. Seems like at some point will have to have a separate case just for the video card. $650.00 That will bring down the 256Mb version's price I would assume.

A lil help please
Aight, so I have about a 125-150 price range here an I was wondering what would be a good recommended card for my older outta date 1Ghz Intel III with 600+ ram? I currently have NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 64 mb. Got it from a friend for 20 bucks. What would be a good OC set for my current card to hold me over? Thanks in advance.

You are really at that processor's limit now. I have a PIII 800 Mhz and it has a GeForce4 Ti 4200 128Mb. That is actually over kill for it. With that said...actually that card is the best for your older system. Faster then the FX5200 by a long shot. You really are wasting dollars if you think you are going to get much more snap out of your older system with a higher end vid card.

ok....Here's one for you guys.
I had a sapphire x800GTO2, mod'd to all 16 pipes open but running on the base clock/mem speeds. GW kept on giving me a hardware error message, then I find out that the x800's sometimes have problems with my asus k8n4 mobo.
um ok I say...whatever
I go out and buy a eVGA 7800GT, get it in and I'm going along just fine and bam! I see textures on the ground, uh.....I find out about the Nvidia problem with that, no big deal. THen the damn card freezes up every so often, I find out on the EVGA site that others have had this problem with EVGA 7800's as well, some in other games but some in GW too.
Well damnit damnit, damnit all. THe x800GTO2 I ebay'd for 5 bucks less than what I bought it for.
Since the EVGA is less than 3 days old in my computer I'll return it for full refund.
What the hell is a bulletproof card for less than $400, that will work perfectly in GW without causing hardware errors and whatnot. Brandname and model pls.

No Idea
Im kinda new to the whole custom built computer shit, well acctualy theres not much i know about computers at all. But a quick question, do you all learn this from getting it drilled into your head by the people that make the cards or do you all do some kind of computer course. because frankly i have no idea and im getting annoyed when i see all these abbreviations, even after reading about overclocking when you write oc i instantly think of that annoying as hell tv show and lose track on what concept im trying grasp in my head. plus you said you use dry ice, do you mean through the green tubes...ie for cooling. and yes i can tell that thy arent all green. yeah you probably have figured out i want to understand but i dont know where to start
no really, maybe someone could explain the basics to me
