Need Help/Advice - Vent
Hi there. Any Vent experts that can help me with some setup questions.
A friend invited me to join an HA pug last night. It was a disaster. They required Vent. I had previously downloaded vent, but have never used it. I was able to set up my user and connect to their vent server easily. However, I've never used "push to talk" before and it's very awkward.
When in battle, I do not use the mouse. I use the keyboard exclusively for fighting with convenient hotkeys for all my skills. So, I used an "extra" key for the push to talk key but it just didn't work well. I was also not able to hear my teammates half the time. They would cut in and out. Because of this, I was unable to coordinate my "spikes" with them and so was kicked from the team and server.
I use TeamSpeak all the time on my guild's server and I've never had an issue with it. We use TS all the time to coordinate spikes and it's extremely easy. Yet with the vent server I was always 2-3 seconds behind on the spike. They would call "Attack in 3...2...1. GO! And I always saw them attacking on "3...2" yet they claimed they were hitting on "GO". I guess this was a major lag on vent for me.
So, 2 questions.
1. Can I use voice activation instead of push to talk? I tried to find the setup options for it, but couldn't. I know push to talk is preferred in most cases however I'm in a perfectly quiet room and my mic has a very convenient on/off button that I can use for this purpose instead of a hot key.
2. I've never had lag on TS and rarely lag ingame. (Unless everyone else is lagging across the board as well) so I'm surprised by the lag in vent. The community seems to regard Vent as a better product than TS, so any suggestions there? Perhaps a setting I can tweak?
Thanks!
