My computer came up with a window saying guild wars has encountered an unrecoverable graphics drive error and must terminate. It also has been comign up with pure virtual function call warnings for ages.

I is my graphics card completely wrecked? Do I have to get a new one or is their any hoep for old one. Otherwise I am gonna have to say asta la vista guild wars you gay m***** f****** Anet you made a game that wrecked my graphics card F*** you.

Now my computer is tellign me I cant access msn as my msn version is too old. Is this true has it just been updated now and I have to my computer or have I been hit with a virus which prevents me from doing my favourite things?

First thing, a game can't wreck your video card, old age, bad cards and bad or no maintenance can cause your video card to die. Secondly if it comes with virus warnings, the first question is do you have an a-v program running?

It would also help to have more details on the problem, maybe a screenchot of the error message if there was an error code with that message, technical specs on your system instead of just a rant on your computer having a malfunction.

Thansk tijo for responding your advice has been very helpful. One question how do you maintain a graphics card? O and yeh it gave me link to a guild wars errors department so its probably nto a virus. Espicialyl as I have a very good antivirus coming by the name of panda. I will try and get a screenshot of the error message. O and Ill try to get the technical specs for you which shouldnt be hard.

O and azi your comment leads me to believe one of 2 things. Either you are a really young kid around the age of 7 who cant take swear words; or you are some 60 years old who doesnt like to have to accept how the world has changed. This isnt the 60s any more where if soemthing bad happened to you, you would say o golly gosh this is such rotten thign to happen to me I know Ill have a cup of tea and then maybe I will feel better afterwards.

I have to break it to you this is the 21st century where peopelcan swear when the hell they want for what ever they want, seriously people swear all the time in the workplace they dont say I dear you have made a mistake they are blunt about how much you have f***** up.

I am sorry if you are 6 and I am sorry if I have let you know about how course the language of the world is before you are old enough to accept it but if you are you hsouldnt really be playing this game anyway as you are too young to handle the violence in it even though there really isnt any.

I'm with Dex on this one, it's either a driver problem, or some hardware is giving up on you due to dust settling on it over time causing overheating or other similar issues like a detached heat sync.

Now with the issue of anet making GW a game too hard on video cards, the game was made on 2005 and will play on a bit older video cards very well too. That includes intel chipsets in the GMA 900 and GMA 950 family. Basically meaning that any budget card will run GW smoothly enough. A GeForce 7600 is enough to have all the bells and whistles turned on and those aren't very expensive these days.

The minimum and recommended requirements on the website or game box aren't there for nothing. If you bought a game that was overkill for your PC then it's your fault for not reading those specs.

Dex is also right on your abrasive posts preventing you from getting many answers. You are lucky i answered on the first place seeing how this was much more a rant than anything else.

Also we still don't have any hardware specification on your computer. What processor, what video card, how much RAM, what is your OS.

Actually, I'm the sort of person who if punched will put you in the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing hospital and hope for slow death! I am neither clueless on graphics cards nor their cost, it's what I do for a living and it hasn't made me rich yet! You see, Building PC's for a living requires one to have knowledge of the cost of the various components.

I also know that 'fecked' isn't a swear word, but if you had half a brain in your head then you'd know from whence it came!

I finally realize why you are pleased my graphic card is broken and its because some one in your business might get some extra money. And yes he it is obvious what fecked means but it doesnt get the general message of the word across to your target audience as fecked has a very soft soudn to it giving more the impression of a descriptive word like beautiful rather than the f word.

Sorry Dude But moriz is right; you do need to upgrade your Graphic card. The SiS Mirage Graphics doses not have good 3D acceleration.

You need to up grade your card.

If you are in the states you may want to check www.Newegg.com they have cheap cards that are way better then the one you currently own.

And in the future you may want to try to be less abrasive when asking for help

Dude that is seriously not a way to ask for help. You need a new graphics card end of story. I have intel extreme 2 thats giving me errors and im gonna need to upgrade it but i'm not throwing a fit about it. I'll just work on titles and what i can in GW:EN until i can get a new card. It's not the end of the world, computers age and parts get out dated.

First I would try downloading a driver update for your GPU here:

Install that driver (if it's newer than the one you have), or have someone help you if you're not comfortable with upgrading a video driver. If that doesn't help then I have to agree with some of the previous posters that your GPU has compatibility issues with Guild Wars. It wouldn't be the only GPU to have problems (as was mentioned, people have a ton of trouble with the Intel IGP graphics chipsets as well).

The Intel IGPs are probably way better than that one. There's hardly any information available on the SiS Mirage but it seems to just barely support DirectX 8 with version 1.3 pixel shaders. Since the chip obviously isn't meant for gaming I wouldn't be surprised if they hadn't bothered writing decent drivers for it. Yes, you need a new video card, at the very least.

I wouldn't bother upgrading just the video card, though; the AcerPower S85 is made to be a cheap ass office computer, and its specs are just barely adequate for even that. It will NOT make a good gaming box unless you replace just about everything except the case so you might as well buy a new computer.
