Default gw randomly crashing

hi!

i recently got a new computer about a month ago. it is an HP, runs vista (32bit), 3GB ram, GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 vid card, and is brand new--not used.

but for the last few weeks on and off, my gw has exited itself and immediately following that i get the little white "serious error" message that pops up--and this did not used to happen with my old computer that ran windows xp (which was also running gw nice and dandy until lightning killed it).

i once got this message during nightfall preview weekend where i would press "1" on hero and the whole game would exit and i would get the serious error message, and i would be able to type in a small note to aNet with "helpful info" leading up to the events that could have caused it. everyone used to get this message, and the bug was immediately fixed.

but when i get the message now, the box locks up and i cannot type anything into it to send an immediate ticket to aNet, just end up closing the game (or force closing thru task manager), and when i close it, the box goes with it--lol. so i cannot end up reporting this or send any screenshots for help. so i am kinda stuck as to why this is happening and what to do about it. so i thought i'd make it public and see if anyone else is having the issue, or if it is just me, as usual.

the best things that i can come up with leading up to crashing are:

*walking around in town
*looking at what's in my storage in town
*exploring an area
*unfortunately once while i was healing in HA on the underworld map -.-

--but i will open the game back up, and so far has not shown any signs of crashing/exiting after i have opened it back up after crashing once.

anyone else with this type of computer having these problems? or maybe not this computer but in game in general?

and what i can do to fix it? ._.' any recommendations?

thanks

if you have a dual processor that will prob be the culprit. try routing gw.dat to run on a single processor.there are other threads in here on how to do it.

You possibly have a corrupted gw.exe or gw.dat, so reinstalling might help.

I was having the same problem with a new system I built. After a few days of trouble shooting, it came down to my voltages (default values) needed to be increased for my RAM and Video settings. Additionally, I am using the Beta nVidia drivers.

OS: Vista Premium 32-bit
Motherboard: nForce 680i SLI 775 T1
Processor: Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q6700
Memory: 4-1GB OCZ DDR2 Reaper HPC
Video: 2-eVGA Geforce 8800 Ultra 768Mb (SLI)

I attempted to use the Support system, but their level of support is at an elementary level and not very timely. You have a proprietary system, so adjusting your BIOS may be risky and will likey void any warranty you may have.
