Weird Stuff happening...
So last night I finished up mapping for legendary cartographer and got off for the night, at this point everything in GW was working fine for me.
Gone all day, get home and log on. Lo and behold, all the text on my screen is whited out. Totally. Completely. All text on my screen is white boxes. Closed Gw and tried again, same result. Restarted computer, no change. Waited 2 hours and tried again still nothing. My graphics are still the same settings etc...so i'm wondering if this is something server-side perhaps? And is anyone else having these problems?
Any help would be appreciated.
And if you'd like to flame, kindly do us all a favor and shut up lol.

That sucks. Sounds like something got corrupted--I'm relatively certain there's some way to try to repair a corrupted archive, but I can't remember how to do it.
Failing that, you can always erase your gw.dat file and redownload it, but that would take a while, of course.

If you actually have the CDs, sure. I know I don't.

Did you do the mapping with the assistance of mods, like textmod style? I know it can have an effect on certain graphic elements.
Or maybe something in your computer died.

The download for GW is actually quite small. Thankfully, you only get the basic stuff and download the parts that you need as you travel the lands. It gets you up and running VERY quickly.
Your error is very odd. Other odd "white-out" and "texture/mesh" errors include some rits with Norn and Monument armor getting wire-frame for armor when viewed by others. Seems like HM should have come later than sooner. Right now, I'm stuck in HM. The normal button won't click on/activate for me. Oh well.

no texmod here, i stuck with the old-school way, in fact i have no modifications to GW whatsoever
odd that you'd mention that though, i personally know several people ingame who use it and no problems....
i doubt its something with my computer either, everything else that i have is running just fine
I didn't use the computer at all between last night and when i started getting errors...sucks if i have to reinstall, but i think i still have the cds
well thanks for the replies so far, i'll have a go at it tomorrow most likely

It sounds like you have a corrupted gw.dat. If you need to re-image, delete your gw.dat (%SYSTEMROOT%\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.dat), and then run this command in your run prompt:
Code:
"C:/Program Files/Guild Wars/Gw.exe" -image
If you're on dialup or it would take too long to download 3.5 GB, I'd be happy to send you a DVD with a full uncorrupted gw.dat on it, provided you send me a CD carrier with postage attached. This is not a joke or an insult or anything, I've done it for other people, and I'm happy to do it for others.

If it still happens do this "C:/Program Files/Guild Wars/Gw.exe" -diag
This is for a self diagnostic and it can be sent to Anet or NCSoft.
