If you haven't bought it yet hold off. The new Nvidia cards are coming out soon (one end october and the other end of november or december). the 8800 GT, which is closest to release seems to offer GTX performance for below $300.

Even if you decide you want a GTX or an Ultra, it would be prudent to wait till the GT releases and see if there are price cuts on the GTXs and the Ultras.

Right now I have a ASUS GeForce 7950gt 512mb
Well just to mention I'm not just using this for GW but want to play other games also
So it should run anything I put in front of it

I really doubt that with a Pentium D, you've ever seen your 7950GT run at its best. That's already an extremely beefy GPU. The only reason I'd want to make that upgrade right now would be if you simply MUST have DirectX 10, and even the top-end DX10 cards seem to be giving quirky results when actually tested in DX10.
If you currently feel you have performance issues with pretty much any game (not just GW, that's a given using 2007 technology) then I would say relatively confidently your video card is not the problem.

Beyond what people have said about the card, you might want to check if the power supply in your Dell can handle the card. If not, you may find that the Dell power supply has a non-standard motherboard connector (it looks standard, but is wired differently), limiting your choice of upgrade PS's.

I do have a ThermalTake 250 watt dedicated PSU that fits into a drive bay.
Have that running my 7950GT now, so I should have enough power and its an SLI cerified PSU with 2 6-pin connectors
