Extreme Ping: Only in Outposts/Cities
Hi All!
As title suggests, I'm experiencing bad ping spikes, but only within outposts/cities. Yesterday it was happening on a more widespread basis, but after following the suggestion of the stickied thread - Bad Ping? Try This. - much to my surprise, I did in fact see an improvement. I got the file down from some 200 fragments to 1. And it seemed to alleviate the problem somewhat, while out in the wilds, even with full parties of 8 actual humans, or in PvP battles. But cities and the like seem to have a different problem source. They are teerrible. Even at off peak hours, in the lowest district available, I can get multi-second lag spikes. And they're happening more than they're not. On more than one occasion, it simply didn't seem to recover at all, and had to close client and relog. Ping outside a village is around the 200-300ms mark. Inside, can have an average of 1-4 seconds, with spikes of 5-6s being quite common. Anyone else have, had, or heard of this problem, and more importantly still a resolution for it? |

my friend was in fact just having this same problem today. he has cable, and a comp with 2gigs of ram, with a dual core processor, so we knew it wasnt that. it was just random. he got a 31k millisecond ping time in towns.
dont really know how to fix it, just thought i'd let you know that youre not the only one, heh. |

Heh, thanks for the info.
Similar boat here, PC is a decent C2D, 8800 GTX vid card, 2gb ram, etc etc. FPS usually sits around 60, even while frozen out due to lag, so doubt it's a PC issue here either. |
