This one looks decent to me, I was like ''O.o'' at corsair making power supplies, but it does look good. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006

It has a single 12v rail with 60~amps on it, 750watts, > 80%~ efficiency, and a nice big fan with a huge vent to boot. It looks nice not to mention, cables are all wrapped up for tidiness.

I don't know what your budget is, but I wouldn't be skimping on the power supply, it is worth it to pay good money for one. Just to add, a 500watt with like 36 amps total could run that system fine I think, but aiming for more power wouldn't hurt, because 1) future upgrades, and 2) it gives your computer more breathing room if it gets power hungry enough.

a simple 500watt psu would be more than enough for that system.

i suggest getting a corsair one or a coolermaster one, both very nice brands with high quality PSU's.

i'm pretty sure this system will run happily on a 400W PSU, so you really don't need anything too powerful.

unless of course, you're looking at a new graphics card down the line.

Modular cabling is far from usless. It allows for better wire managment and since you only hook up what you need, you dont have a mess of wires(It looks neater as well). This will result in better airflow, which reduces heat, which keeps your compents working longer. I have used both modular and non-modular PSUs in builds. After going to modular It becomes painfully obvious that you do not want to go back to non-modular.

This is a good power supply. Cheap out on a PSU is silly. Cheap PSU's fail faster and can start class A electrical fires. Also, I suggested a 700watt for future upgrades. In my experience it is better to have some power left over than to pin the PSU constantly.

I don't even bother with modular, I just hide my cables. I watched a video on someone hiding their PSU cables behind the mobo tray on my case (Lian Li PC-7B) and I realized there's no need for modular in this instance. Just be innovative.

I'm not saying that modular doesn't help, and it is a nice thing to have no doubt, less wires to hide and all, but it is not a necessity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poXyU-BwNbk try it, you can do this on basically any case, while not all are the same, there's always a way.

You couldn't pay me to own an Antec power supply, EVER AGAIN. Seriously, unless you want it to blow up and destroy your entire PC, don't buy an Antec.

Tagan, Corsair, Coolermaster, Thermaltake (albeit, a bit pricey sometimes), Enermax (only their really high end stuff), and the best is Silverstone (but you will pay for that)

With reference to the modular PSU comments, I'm a bit torn. Modulars are great for cable management and I was looking at them as a potential future upgrade. A couple of things put me off: I'm already running a (non-modular) 850W Coolermaster and, more importantly, I'm running two 8800GTXs, both of which need two auxiliary power connections. If I ran a modular, it would need every available cable connected anyway, thus making the modularity pointless.

Damn, they're so nice and glowy too :/

I'd go with an Ultra 500W, you really can't go wrong, no matter which one you pick at the 500W, I've got the most basic 500W and am running an 8800GT and AMD Athlonx2 6400+.

Heres the thing its not being upgraded any farther than what its got. No real need to do that, its about the end of upgradablitly for that Mobo to a degree.

I'll say it again since you don't seem to listen to other people. You do not need a power supply higher than 400/500 Watt for your current system. All you are doing by buying a 600/700 Watt PSU is wasting money and power. Just make sure you buy a decent brand as suggested by Rahja above (although I've had no problems with Antec's PSUs).

Incidentally, and slightly thread-derailing - do all these companies like OCZ and Corsair more known for other things (memory, in this case) - sell re-badged PSUs, or are they really their own products? If they are re-badges, what are they?

I'd say buy this one, probably best suggestion as to the power/performance/price. It seems around what you were looking for judging by the prices of the other PSU's you suggested.

Would that PS be able to handle a second 8600gt also though. Just a thought.

I have idea for another build comming soon all new though for that one.

might be 16 cores for that one. 4 quads. the fun with that.

If that calculator is accurate, it's a great tool!

Oh, and Tam - that PSU has only 14 and 15A on the two 12V rails. The Tt I posted has 18, which is still a touch low. That BFG at least has 20A. I keep forgetting to take the Amperage into consideration, along with the Wattage.
