Default mouse purchase

i'm looking for a mouse to replace my logitech mx400. it will be used for everything, including some CAD, general usage, and gaming.

i'm currently considering the mx revolution. it looks like it has all the features i'll ever need. the programmable buttons looks very interesting, since i bind a lot of GW's controls to my mx400, and could use the additional binds.

does anyone have any different suggestions?

Thats what I use and love it. I gave up on cordless after it started eating batteries then it got the BFH.

hmm, that just looks like my mx400 without the tilting scrollwheel. changing DPI means nothing to me, since i don't play FPS games and it's useless with GW.

the new mouse needs to be a pretty significant upgrade over my mx400 functionally.

Love it, could recommend it, lots of people are going to recommend Razer and the Microsoft Sidewinder too though. I stick with Logitech.

BTW in regards to changing DPI on the fly, it is a gimmick and I have never found any practical use for it, If I were you I would just macro the +/- buttons for DPI to some other functionality instead, who honestly changes DPI in FPS games? Once you find a setting you like you can just keep it at that and you're set.

My mouse has on the fly DPI changing as well, I leave it on 4000dpi (why settle for less?) but none of my friends can handle the sensitivity.

So when they come over to play my games, they make use of that handy button(s)

Ooh, a blue-glowy mouse

As a matter of interest, do the two buttons on the right hand side just copy the ones on the other side for the benefit of lefties, or are they separately programmable?

I swear by my Sidewinder, but I fear that 5 buttons is too few for the OP. I loved my old cordless 7 button mx-something, but I vastly prefer the ergonomics and chunky wheel on the SW. And the cord - stuff wireless.

If it's anything like the other razer mice they should all be seperatly programmable.

I'd reccommend pretty much any modern razer mouse. Choose model based on hand type and size and you should have no problem.

i purchased a razer deathadder (and yes, it's blue and glowy).

i figured that i simply won't be able to use all the extra buttons. my right hand is horribly double jointed and i simply cannot move my fingers fast enough to take advantage of the extra buttons. it does have extra large side buttons, which appears to allow me to interrupt slightly better. it also managed to be very fast, but not twitchy. i realized that i can turn up the speed on normal mice to mimic the speed, but their accuracy goes out the window with higher speed.
