first time builder for gaming and casual
hey i am a first time builder i would like for ppl to look over my rig before i buy my budget is around 1000$ but can be stretched for quality

What makes a computer your own is really the case selection, etc.

Moriz is correct though yamz, but you choices plus what I PMed you are more than suitable. The 9800GT is a great budget card, and completely destroys the 8800GT. As I noted, go with the E8400 CPU, not the Q6600 Quad core. RAM would be Crucial Ballistix 2x1GB (x2) DDR2 1066.

The other things you can do to make a computer you own are simple case modes. Fan grills, lights, etc.

http://www.frozencpu.com/ has a ton of the mod stuff for great prices. Buy some fun stuff to put in the PC with the extra money you have left over (if any) You can make a computer your own only by your sweat and blood building it, and by the care you put into the build. A computer build is a great experience, because you get to know your computer very well, and you understand and notice issues before they get severe usually. It is similar to working on an old car as a hobby.

Oh yeh, and I forgot to PM you optical drives. Unless you have a 1920x1200 monitor or better, don't bother with the Blu-Ray drive.

personally i'd go for the 260GTX, but for your price range i'd say9800GT/GTX+
(if you get a GT one, you might consider the one with hybrid power support, since that one has a 55nm GPU

)

um... rahja? the 9800GT is basically exactly the same as the 8800GT. i think you mean the 9800GTX. in that case, the HD4850 is the better buy in the same price range.

and thanks for the advice
yeah i also heard that the 8800GT is almost the same as 9800GT
but now i am thinking of going of getting a different psu and case
and i am still stuck at what i should get for a motherboard any ideas?

your "800W" powersupply can apparently only put out a combined 30A on the 12V rail. if anything else, pick a better power supply. that power supply will eventually kill your system.
