well recently like 2 weeks ago, i bought an LG flatron wide 19" monitor. now i was so happy to have it because this was my first flat screen and i had had an old CRT monitor from 5 years ago :O

Anyways, i plugged it in and let me tell you, it didnt work at all.

Periodically while playing WoW (and some gw too!) it would freeze up, and i would have to restart my computer or wait 10 minutes for it to unfreeze. This became more frequent until i finally decided to fix it

so yeah,after about a week of that i realised that OMG! maybe i should check if i need to update the drivers! haha, im retard

Well that didnt help either, because apparently LG's idea of fixing a lockup is for every 5 minutes for my computer to drop to maybe 10 FPS, and not process any sound at all, until i restart the computer

Well i was able to fix that because it was a problem with my sound card's drivers and the monitor

Ok so yesterday i try and turn it on, and all i get is

"Digital
Power Saving Mode"

this happens before it even shows the startup page where you view bios etc, so theres no luck in going there.

This only happens when i use the DVI plug, the analog one works fine, which is how im typing this here :P

Anyone have any idea as to whats wrong?

The problem isn't caused by the monitor...

Don't use dxdiag to post system information, use EVEREST Free and make use of their summary section: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181

Open your case and clean out any dust. Sounds like you may be overheating. Be sure the computer is always in a well ventilated area. Never put the computer under a desk, on carpet, or anywhere that the fans only have a few inches behind the computer and blow the hot air into the wall.

The "digital - power saving mode" thing doesn't originate from the computer. It's just the monitor's way of saying it's awaiting input on the digital line and isn't receiving anything so it's entering a power saving mode.

Make sure the DVI cable's firmly attached, and try wiggling it a bit to see if it's just a bad connection. Try the monitor with another computer if you can.

[off topic] For all Brits out there, is it just me or does every graphics card come with a DVI-I socket, yet every monitor comes with a DVI-D?
Minor "problem" to be sure, but it's annoying having to return a DVI-I cable when it doesn't fit :/
