I am looking to be more competitive in my gaming and I think I am losing often because of my poor equipment. I am using a dell computer with all the original equipment and the mouse sucks horribly, there are certain times when the mouse ball thingy gets stuck and stops moving completely which results in me losing! I looking around and found some interesting mice (G5, Some Razor ones) but they were wired mice. Anyone know a mouse that is wireless, uses a laser, and has programmable buttons? I don't give a crap about cost.

If you like moving your wrist and arm around, then any decent optical mouse will do.
I personally use a Trackball mouse, (Not the one with the ball in the center, the Logitech one with the ball on the left for the Thumb) so my hand never moves, just my thumb.
Ive been using these for years, and they do take getting used to, but once your adjusted, youll hate regular mice.

The best thing I can suggest would be to go to a store like Best Buy, who has some display models of mice out. See how they feel and figure out what kind of mouse shape you like the most. To be honest, you don't need a very expensive one, just one that's comfortable. In fact, I prefer to get cheaper mice, (definitely optical), and just replace them every 1-2 years.

As an aside, I find the mice w/ more buttons to be a detriment, as they're usually very close together or the software to program them is lacking.

Lastly, I would suggest getting a mouse whose scroll wheel is either textured or made of a somewhat tacky material, so you can scroll reliably.

I personally use a Logitech G5 mouse.

Optical, adjustable DPI (400, 800, and 2000), and an adjustable weight cartridge up to 36 grams additional.

Logitech G5 Mouse

I bought it at a time where I played only FPS games but it has shown to be somewhat invaluable in Guild Wars also.

It carries a $60 price tag but is worth every penny.

edit: Ok I just saw you were looking for wireless, sorry for overlooking that.

Logitech also makes a wireless version of this mouse.

Logitech G7 Mouse

This is like the G5 mouse but without the weight cartridge. Hope that helps.

Logitech makes some excellent equipment, but for GW, you don't need the responsiveness of such a model. Also, if you're going for wireless, then you'll either want to get some rechargeable batteries, or a mouse that has a rechargeable battery built in. There are some neat models that are wireless, but can plug in via a usb wire for recharging purposes...

After further research wireless seems to be a poor choice. Wired mice are faster response time wise. I plan to go to the mall this weekend and check out a couple mice Razor DeathAdder, Logitech G5 and see what else I fancy there.

If this is just for guild wars then responsiveness doesn't matter, even in an FPS the difference between a wired G7 and the G5 is barely noticeable.

I tend not to like wireless mice as they are unreliable

For example you could be a monk in a high end gvg battle and the battery dies (if you forget to charge/change) and then you're screwed lol.

If you're a forgetful person like I am then wired would be best

I use a Razer Copperhead atm, going to upgrade to Lachesis as 2k dpi is getting as little slow for me >.<

But if you still have your eye set on a wireless mouse then Logitech seems to make some good ones.

if you got the cash: Razer Lachesis Muta Muta: "Bringer of Silent Death" THE Gaming Mouse! No other compares to it. Logitech is childsplay compared to this.

Confirmed trackball user here and use the logitech trackball.

I am also a complete luddite when it comes to wireless mice trackballs or keyboards.

I asked myself just how far away from the computer do I want to sit and second do I want to spend time replacing or recharging batteries.

After that it was an easy choice to go wired.

I do use a gaming keyboard though which is invaluable gw.

Logitech G5, you can set 5 'dpi-levels' between 500 and 2000 DPI. and the wire is just awesome, its not like the 'sticky' caple you get with all wires, its in some kind of cloth (don't know wich one) and it just moves perfectly.

Wireless sucks,batteries always die on you,signals get interrupted. Not to mention windows screwing things up! Wired is much more reliable.I like the razors too,nice build quality,comfortable, and customisable if you need it.

Just my opinion, but I think a "gaming keyboard" will help you more than a "gaming mouse". Take a look at Ideazon's Merc or Fang. Belkin's Nostromo looks cool too.

I just got the Fang, and it's great - I don't think I'll ever play games with a regular keyboard again. Using a regular keyboard was slowing me down much more than my mouse. Of course, If you've got money to spare, you could get a new mouse AND a new keyboard! :-D

Keyboards are less important than mice in most games. All keyboards have roughly the same technical ability to transfer the data whereas mice can differ quite a bit.

Especially the keyboards you named are reknown for perhaps a nice layout, but terrible quality (lifespan is short). For this reason most ´profesional gamers´from games like Warcraft 3, Starcraft, Counter-Strike, UT2004, Q3, use normal keyboards and tend to prefer the following brands: Samsung, Keytronics, Cherry and IBM (Model M).

Never had any problems with a wireless mouse to date (GW and FPS gameplay). Just make sure you get a mouse with an inteligent docking station to load the batteries every night (inteligent in that it doesnt carry on to charge the batteries after they are full, and the mouse powers down if its not being used). That way the worst that could happen is you loose the mouse under the mess on your desk which you have to clear up before gaming again

You get same with Trust's Predator mouse. 5 settings, from 600 to 2000, 6 buttons that you can set to whatever you want and one ,,triple-click'' button for FPS games. I used Logitech's LX1000 mouse before and it was pretty much worse - only 3 buttons and no option to change the dpi settings.

But for GW, even a 2 button mouse with a scroll is enough. I use the 4th button for speaking on TS (much easier than using keyboard), 5th for dropping item I'm holding (ritualist ashes and other bundles) and 6th instead of T button for faster assist during a spike.

And yeah, keyboard doesn't matter too much in GW. It's useful in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (additional keys help binding commands), strategies, MMORPG's (like WoW) and maybe sometimes in RPG's (ah, I would like to have additional buttons in Neverwinter Nights...).

Are you running Windows Vista and is the fang working ok.

I have the old Thrustmaster tactical board and they don't make vista drivers for it.
I am so used to all my rpg and first person shooters having the same key setup that my game is really suffering now that I am reduced to using a qwerty keyboard.

Sorry, I am running on WindowsXP (no problems).

Vista "shouldn't" be a problem if you're looking for a replacement for your Thrustmaster - The Fang is just a USB device, with the "ZEngine" software doing the critical stuff. If you go to Ideazon and download the latest ZEngine software for Fang, it asks for your operating system - Vista is one of the choices so I would assume they have tested under Vista... and besides the Fang is a fairly recent product, not some old pre-Vista thing.

I can only suggest you Google for Fang reviews, and see if any were done under Vista... or search for "Fang" "Problem" and "Vista" to see if people are reporting trouble with it.
