sounds to me like a combination of 64MB intergrated graphics and vista.

my old laptop had 128MB intergrated graphics (Intel series =O) and ran xp, and i got an average fps of 25-30 in HA, and 30-35 in most other areas.

now i have an intel mac tho, hehe, and enjoy a huge fps of 80+ =P

update drivers??

When i bought Portal i was baffled by my 5-20fps, then once i updated my drivers i was up to 50-80fps...


of course you wont get that buff on a laptop, but it may help

You're absolutely right, I'm so used to desktops that I didn't remember that.
Yeah, it's probably best to get driver from the manufacturer and hope they've modified a fairly new nvidia reference driver, as at least some manufacturers (e.g. I know DELL used to do this) modify the firmware to keep people from installing non-manufacturer drivers.

you can download modified nvidia drivers for your laptop graphics.

nvidia drivers supports just about every nvidia graphic card ever made (or at least the geforce and quadro series). the only reason why laptop graphics aren't supported is because nvidia left them off of the .inf file. modified drivers with modified .inf files will allow this support.
