I have this problem with blurry/blocky textures on both of my computers running GW, one with a Geforce 6600GT and the other with a 8600GT. When I take a screenshot in GW it corrects it self and it looks normal (inside the red frame) but what I see in game is like the blocky wagons there in the background. Some of the trees also have the same problem, and when I take a couple of steps forward it corrects itself.

I tried updating to the latest drivers and playing with the graphics settings but I haven't been able to correct this yet.

Anyone else got this? Tips? Sorry if this has been answered already but I haven't found any answers searching around yet.

From what it sounds like you're saying you're talking about the LoD adjustments the game does automatically based on distance from said object. I don't think there is a way to turn that off. And even if you did have a way to do so the added work of fully polygonal meshes always being rendered, regardless of distance, could put quite a strain onto the engine/graphics card and hit the performance quite a bit.

But yea, things going into a lower detail mode, and then fixing themselves up as you approach is normal. And the reason why it shows up normal in screenshots is cause i believe LoD is disabled in those for the split second of the capture.

Mine does that too, and I'm running an 8600GT.

Seems that anything distanced enough becomes 2D/Lower Detail, and there's really nothing you can do to fix that as mentioned above, annoying but oh well.

Thanks for clearing that one out. I was afraid it might be something like that. I must say that the results are odd sometimes though, with trees looking like something out of Rolands adventures on my old cpc464.

Btw, here's a screenshot of how trees in the distance typically look on my computer. If I can get a confirmation that this is just the way it is or normal, then I will have no problem with it and I can sleep well at night.
Otherwise, if it is possible to improve or correct through settings, please give me a hint before my hair turns gray

Yeah it is normal, there is one way to improve this a small bit. You can force 16x AF through your video card driver so it will always be on. It should improve textures in the distance a bit.

I complain so much to Anet that they almost put me on a restraining order. They said that they can't reproduce it in there test and they wont try to fix something that only 0.1% of the population have. If more people complain maybe they would but a slider to push that limit I mean most gaming rig now can do way better then were they establish that limit.

Well it's really quite unnecessary to force the LoD effect on people one way or another, but it's easy to live with isn't it? I think it's a cool feature, actually.

yea, thats just the way that the engine renders objects that are over a certain distance away (saves processing power, increasing fps). As said above, it can be improved by using your graphics card software to force 16x AF, but i find i barely notice this anyway.
