A little aid with video cards :\
alright so heres mine:
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 (i think?)
i know its pretty damn bad, but how bad is it? and what is a "good" video card i should get that would run guild wars smoothly?
preferably looking for something not over $150....
PS: i know next to nothing about video cards, so if you coud just explain a bit what youre talking about so i could understand that would be awesome ;D

Ati Radeon sapphire Pro.
512mb
DVI support.
onboard cpu clock - (permanant upgrade to cpu link)
Dual DVI port adaptation (for use with dual monitors to multi-task)
More stats but i cant give them atm. This card costed me $250AUS. prolly cheaper in US, but it's the best of the best. =)

well thats pretty old! so i guess ur using agp so i recommend for ati at least x1600pro, or nvidia 7300gt or similar will set u back about 100$aust, but depends on your processor and ram as well since im guessing ur comp is at least 2yrs old based on ur video card

Radeon HD 2400 for $69.99 isn't too bad. Not great, but the price isn't too bad.
Geforce 7600 GS for $89.99 isn't too bad either.
I wouldn't spend more than $100 if you're talking AGP (which you are with a 5200). The above 2 cards get you something better at a resonable price.

I'm not sure if i would recommend an agp version of the HD2x00 series. Unless ati has fixed their drivers recently, the agp versions tend to have a fair ammount of issues from what i've heard.

hmm, for AGP i wud say the nvidia 7600 GS.
ATi Sapphire isn't bad either, but some models have a fondness of overheating massively.
otherwise, buy a pci-e mobo, and get the nividia 8800gt

i wouldn't really go for ATi knowing their track record.... if it was up to me I'd spend 50 extra dollars and get one of the 8800 series from newegg

If you change your board, I could only guess that you'll have to change much more, hardware wise, to run it stable.
My suggestion would be 6800GT (or 6800XT if you can't find one, link). It's the only card that is built for extreme gaming that fits both your financial requirements and your system requirements.
