Default GW Deleting Itself

Sick and tired of this happening, this is the 4th time in two weeks now, downloading 5500 files as I type this.

Only thing to say is I get repairing data archive quite regularly, more regularly than I used to anyway.

Anyone?

Have you tried error-checking your disk?

By this do you mean chkdsk?

I formatted recently, so I don't know if there's much point.

Use Chkdsk. It really does sound like your drive is dying. You might just want to replace it ASAP.

Things don't just magically delete themselves without outside influence.

no idea if this is related or not, but, a LOOOONG time ago i read a post about gaile gray recieving this same error and she asked one of her ANet buds for advice and they told her to replace her power supply b/c it was affecting her HD. gaile, as ia recall, as well as everyone else, found this odd as a solution. anyways, she replaced her power supply and it never happened to her again (or so she said).

don't take me 100% on this; try looking for the thread/post in which this was discussed first. i am just going off of something i remember reading a LONG time ago.

Everything else I run is fine, I've had no other problems with the other games/apps I play.

My PSU is a 550W arctic, I seriously doubt this is where the problem lies.

Concerning the HDD, why would I want to replace it ASAP when there's absolutely no solid proof that the HDD is the problem?

Does anyone have a concrete solution that doesn't involve hearsay and supposition?

error checking is not the same as defrag...the check will detect bad sectors etc and mark them as so...defrag can attempt to move to the bad sector or leave it as unmovable...but without marking it...if it's just a minor problem...error checking can solve your problem...but if you start getting a long list of bad & unrecovarable msgs...then it might mean your HD is damaged...

so try running the check...defrag again if u want...but if u've already done it then there's not much point....and see how it goes...the check doesn't take as long as the defrag and it will help u either identify the problem or eliminate one of the many possible causes...

I've had this problem recently with the repairing data archive as a result of bad RAM. Memtest turned up 155 errors in one pass. You might try checking that.
