Hello everyone,

Something weird just occurred while I was playing Gw. The skills, the foes, everything stopped, but I was still able to look around, have access to the menues and chat so in my opinion it's not lag but I might be wrong.

Any idea about what is it and how to get rid of it ?

yeah, that was lag
it might have not been lag on your side of connection, but either the server or something else lagged, therefore the client on your PC was till functional. Like if the gw server disconnects you your account is still going to appear functional for few seconds before it realizes the connection is lost, and the next time you reconnect to the server, the server is going to reconfigure the data on your pc to match with the data stored on the server.

This happens a lot, we call it freeze lag xD

You cant move, you cant see others moving, but you can open and close menus and enchantments, disease, bleeding, hexes all run its course. I remember i had it in Ab and i just saw my health drain away and i couldnt cast mystic regen to save myself XDD

Oh well I thought the term "lag" could only be used when the game would freeze completely.

I got another question then : Sometimes, when I move my character with the arrow keys, instead of going in the right direction he appears somewhere else and moves by himself, making it impossible to reach his destination. As for the lag I have to restart the game and even then it usually keeps doing it.

Same problem ?

Sounds like you're rubberbanding, another type of lag. Any type of delay within the game is considered 'lag'. Some are caused by your computer (freezing, slow frames) and others caused by connection (either yours, or the server identified when your client looses sync with the server).

yep its all lagg....like when you think you are beating up on an enemy and you arent even near him??? did that yesterday (and until the battle was over I wondered why my h/h werent near me

).....yep lagg, rubberbanding...and if you are unlucky a disconnect as well!! (got that with a pug---2 dc'd while the rest of us lagged horrible).
not sure what's been going on recently.

Yep, that's lag alright. It's the reason why I've been playing Eve Online (which incidentally is lag free) for the last week rather than Guild Wars.

I've been lagging horribly lately as well, delay in using skills, rubberbanding, etc. And numerous disconnects, it's just started happening recently. I got so pissed yesterday, it took me four tries to get through Warband of Brothers without disconnecting. -.- Each time it was on the third level, too.

I can play other MMO's just fine, so I'm pretty sure it's not me.

The type of lag GW has is the most annoying lag ever. It's so frustrating to see other people move, chat and cast spells when you're just stuck standing around not being able to do anything.

Grrrr....

Aera, I agree. Or worse, you see yourself moving and then you get snapped back by over half the compass range and into enemies.

yes it seems to have gone nuts again after the last update although i don't have alot of problems with it atm (was forced to delete my gw.dat since i couldn't log-in anymore)
