try using -image command.
Copy your short-cut to gw. Go to properties.
Change "c:\program files\guildwars\gw.exe" to "c:\program files\guildwars\gw.exe" -image.
It will download all maps + uncompress it. Also real good idea to write the install folder to a dvd, when temporary uninstalling the game. This will save you loading on the next install.
Next time ask this in the Q&A section.

Vista?
Maybe some of your RAM took a poop?
Processor is overheating causing it to slow itself down severely?

It won't be that if it is an old install....it just downloads all of the maps and stuff. If it is an old install you should already have them.

make a shortcut for guild wars.
Right click on shortcut and go to properties
Click on the shortcut tab
In the Target box, add -image after the quotation marks.
Run the shortcut and leave it running all night.

the name "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"-image specified in the target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct.

it is everything in the entire game...just as if you went to every single area in the game and downloaded the map.
Hence why I said leave it run all night.

This happens to me my first load on a friends PC.
This is my explanation:
Game has to load up all game commands, terrains, textures, sounds, special animations, and features.
Cutscenes take forever first time cause it loads like 20MB up.

See you have to download because you did a reinstall >.>
Just do the -image overnight. Then write the gw.dat to a dvd. No more load times

sounds like your .dat has gotten courrpted somehow - it happened to me loads when my ram was on its way out. Move your current .dat and run an image.exe overnight to install a fresh one and see if that helps.
