Which video card should I buy?
My recent video card (ATI Radeon 9800 Pro) won't let me run Guild Wars anymore so I need to buy a new video card. I can only run AGP 4x/8x and need a card that will perform exceptionally well. Anybody have any suggestions on what to buy?

Haha I won't let you be the last one but I have had several problems with it recently and it wont even let me up GW anymore...Price range wise...I guess $75-$125...And would it be safe to switch from an ATI card to nVidia card?

Something like a GeForce 7600, 7800 are decent enough for GW, not too expensive and most important they are made for both PCI-E 16x and AGP 8x. Their ATI counterparts are also made with AGP and PCI-E and are in the same price range.

Ok for one thing that video card is $600 and I would rather by a new computer then spend that much money on a video card. Also, that can not even support my computer which is around 4 years old. I will check out the GeForce 7600 and the ATI 2600PRO but if anybody else has suggestions, let me know as soon as possible!

The ati Xxxx (such as the x800) series of cards also come in agp flavors as well. May want to check in to those as well considering the X series came after the 9x series in ati line.

what's wrong with your current card? it should handle GW without any problems.
heck, my friend was running guild wars at AAx8 and AFx16 with the exact same specs, and managing an almost constant 56-59 fps at max settings... before he took off the heatsink to clean it and forgot to apply thermal grease...

you should be having no problems with that card. Hell I run GW on my xp machine with a Geforce FX 5200. Thats an old beast of a card.
Try going back 1 set or 2 older drivers for it if you have the current set of drivers for it.

Trust me. I have been e-mailing ANET back and forth for three weeks and we could not find a solution to my problem. With my old drivers, the graphics would be "choppy" and "blocky" throughout the entire game. There are random colors across the screen and black dots that were scattered all across Guild Wars. But my graphics card is fine otherwise with everything else besides games. ANET told me to download multiple applcations in order to solve the problem and nothing they suggested worked. I have tried everything from system restores, reinstalling old/new drivers, rollback drivers; nothing seems to work for me So I guess my only solution is to buy a new graphics card.
