Geforce 7600 vs. 8400
Hey.
I read that 8400 is for graphics, and 7600 for gaming.
in my country i found this: 7200 for 70$, 7300 for 75$, 7600 for 80$. 8400 for 85$, 8500 for 100$, 8600 for 130$.
as u can see, a jump from 7600 to 8400 is just 5 bucks. And the 8400 serie here is 512 mb, whereas the 7600 is 256. On the other hand, 7600 is faster and better in other aspect such a pixels, and core MHZ, and memory, and so on.. Not for much thou...
But 8400 supports direx 10 (thou i dont even have Vista).
I ask, which card is better for gamin?? cuz im not payin extra 50 bucks for a GeForce 8600 (130$) when its not even 2/5 more powerful than 7600.

where do you buy your graphic cards?!? 130dollar for a 8600 is way to much.
130 dollar is the price of a 9600GT.
all of those prices are way to expensive, don't buy at the store where you find those.

Im from paraguay. Yes, that country u dont know where it is.. Its a 3rd world country, so its a privilege to have GPU for PCI-e around...
the thing is, if i buy through the internet, i have to pay extra 5$ per POUND of weight. if the package weights 4 pounds, that is extra 40$..

Well, if your not planning on using DX-10(Vista), get the 7600.

Dont worry friend, I know very well where Paraguay is, and for a country that isn't in Western Europe or North America those price are not that bad. I have lived in similar countries and what you say about it being a privilege to have the option of choosing which graphics card to buy (or even to have a pc) is very true.
I have had a 7600 in my laptop for awhile and it does very well on most games out there. It eats GW alive... totally seamless with ALL settings at max and it even runs Oblivion at High settings without any real problems. If you don't have Vista (for the most part Vista is a waste of money and a resource hog and all around sux as far as i'm concerned) get the 7600. It comes in a 512 as well as 256, but for GW at least 256 will be plenty. Good luck!

its great to know 7600 makes MAX video quality work very well..
thats all i need.. maybe in 96 months ill get another.. but what im into know is just titan's quest, oblivion, WoW (dont flame me plz, i beg of you!! its addictive), Hitman blood money, world in conflict.
I plan to get the Age of conan and Warhammer Online, and of course GW2 (thay say gw2 will have, like GW, low and high quality settings so im not concerned, as long as i have 30 FPS

I guess that Paraguay is lacking in maths teachers too.

If it was between the GF8400 and GF7600, get the 7600.
GF8400 is the bottom of the barrel, a small step up from integrated graphics. Don't expect to play with more than 20 frames in Guild Wars with that card.
GF8600GTS is a lot faster the 7600. If you can afford it, pick it up.
