It's cause of the single core. If you get a dual-core or quad-core, and octo-core computer, you can run limewire, download stuff, and play Guild Wars at the same time. Or else you're basically stick with doing stuff separately, thus, wasting time.

You realize that by downloading limewire and not finding a specific box, you just agreed to share every single file on your computer? Just thought i'd let you know.

Hmm somehow I REALLY doubt that, you only share your downloaded files from limewire

By default, LimeWire only shares what is in the dedicated shared folder (in Vista username\documents\limewire\shared). If you really wanted, you could configure it to not share anything - but the p2p community aren't over-fond of leechers.

A peer-to-peer file sharing program/network.
Think old-school Napster.

Best thing you can do is uninstall Limewire. If you absolutely must have a P2P application, try Shareaza.

Delete it and find yourself a new copy. Or as Azagoth suggests, use something else.

Its because Limewire (at one time at least) is a java application. That, and maintaining all your shared folders (constant scanning and file integrity checks) can really cause tremendous load on a PC. Over time it becomes more bloated and causes more problems.
Honestly, Limewire is junk and contains mostly all fake files with trojans, viruses or the screeching mp3s. Just find another program if you must download illegaly.

Why do automatically assume that someone is downloading illegally if they're using a P2P application? You do realise that there are quite a few legitimate reasons to use P2P for downloading large files, don't you?

Heh, just for the record, I've never had a problem with it. Then again, I have the paid-for version, which certainly makes a difference.
As to legality, whenever you start to d/l a file, LimeWire will pop up a requester saying "A valid license could not be found for this file - continue anyway?"
Then, obviously, you click "NO" and find a legal copy to download.
There's probably one in there somewhere...
