Same as Admael. And when for example Avast used to update, the popup would screw up my games (because my mouse tries to be in the game AND in the windows screen - hai deaths in Crysis, Gears of War and Quake Wars). Nod is barely visible when it updates, because it doesn't shout at me ,,AVAST HAS BEEN UPDATED!!! NOW CLICK ME OR SUFFEEEEEER!!!11''. Oh and it fades fast, so you won't notice him. And he doesn't screw up games.
Btw, if you set your firewall really bad, you won't even be able to connect to Internet. Happened once to my dad.

Heh, I'm very familiar with 192.168.0.1 - running wireless to an XBox 360, a Wii and a PS3. WPA PSK encrypted and allows whitelisted devices only. Unlike all the other cretins in my apartment block, all of who's routers I can see, all with default names and all with either no encryption or WEP.
Yes, I've firewalled myself out of the internet before now

Right - that's enough NOD votes to convince me, and Comodo thrown in sounds wise.
Thanks for all the opinions, guys and gals.

theres no reason to not use free security software
unless u have some serious private data that needs professional-like security protection
or ur constantly puttin urself in a position to be vulnerable to get hacked/get a virus/etc

The main reason on my NOD32 choice is its low footprint. I hate AVs that hog resources - Norton may be a trusted company worldwide, but their product eats resources, it's very intrusive and it's a total bitch to remove.
AVG free is ok, but still too pop-uppy and resource hoggy.
I've heard nothing but good about NOD.
Oh, and the final straw from AVG - every boot I'm getting a "renew NOW!" requester - telling me I only have 60 days left.
F'k 'em.

NOD32 is not very friendly, does no hand-holding, won't talk to you unless you talk to it, and still protects you automatically from all major threats. -- Exactly what we all need in an Antivirus. It will do you proud

Avast can be very easily configured to silently update.
