BSOD due to Graphic Driver (possibly)
Hi.
Every time I try to play a game on this computer, sometimes the game plays fine for hours, sometimes it only takes a couple of minutes, until it freezes and then I get a blue screen.
The error I get is:
Stop 0x000000EA (0x85D863BO, 0x8683T248, 0xF78EFCBC, 0x00000001)
igxprd32
I know that igxprd32 is my graphics driver.
I have a INTEL chipset, G965 Express Chipset Family
chip type INTEL GMAX3000
I am positive that I have the right version, since I already tried to update the drivers from the intel site.. my version is 6.14.0010.4935[english], date 17/03/2008.
Just wondering if anyone has a solution to this problem or knows what's causing it.
Thanks for your help.

Is this just GW or any game? Did you just install something IE. New drivers, programs etc. If the stop error happened on your gfx driver , update it or roll it back. Also run a memtest to see if its your ram.You have the new DX9? PC stats would help as well.

You can go to Intel's website and update your graphics drivers.

Everything is updated.

Wouldn't this be the right website/driver for my G965 chipset? Unless it's that I've done wrong.
Edit: PC stats, it's a Dual core 1.60ghz, 1gb RAM. It's not the best, but I've ran both Guild Wars, WoW, and other games on it with no problems before.

There is are only two known solutions to this problem. Reinstalling the video drivers or buying a video card. Intel integrated chipsets are a pain in the ass with guildwars sometimes. Your error occurs because the graphics adapter is getting caught in an infinite loop while waiting for the video hardware to become idle.
Microsoft suggest going to the manufacturers site and reinstalling the drivers.
I suggest getting a cheap card to bypass the issue. You will get better system performance with a card that processes your video.

If your drivers are up to date (which they seem to be) then your graphics chipset could be on the way out. The error you're receiving is definitely related to driver issues - nasty infinite loop.
God, I really must type faster :/
Seen old threads on Intel support that suggest a BIOS update could be in order.

Go to the North American ASUS site and download the latest BIOS version for your mobo. Download the windows executable one so you don't have to dick around with bootable images.

I absolutely HATE the ASUSTech site - searched it several times in the past for people without any joy. It's a pile of poo.
The update-your-bios-from-windows-via-an-internet-update widget is here - http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...Updt_70902.zip
There are craploads of P5B versions, but no P5B-BN. Probably have more luck with that widget.
Let's see if I can hotlink a picture from their site (that'll teach them!)
Heh, works. Read off the whole line ringed in red when you start your PC (not just the ringed bit - all of that line). Can work backwards from there
(Still, that widget will stop all this faffing about - more curiosity than anything now)

Thanks, a lot, I will let you know if it fixes the problem ^^.
As I said, I can play for hours fine, like yestarday, was a bank holiday so I pratically played 12 hours straight with no problems (cheers for lazyness). And today after the first 30 minutes of playing, I had atleast 3 BSOD. So I'll let you know if I it fixed the problem as soon as I can.
Cheers

Hopefully it's just your firewall blocking it.
If you know what firewall you have, turn it off, run that prog, then turn the firewall back on again. Surest method of success.
If it still doesn't work, go to my previous post with the screenshot, give me the info I mentioned, and I'll see if I can help.
(Ah, "Bank Holiday" - you're in the UK, then?)

I spoke with a few people and it seems that the problem is that my chip (IntelG965) just isn't processing the game very well, (it doesn't even have AGP texture acceleration) so a friend of mine offered me a GeForce 5500 gfx card.
Does anyone know if this would be a improvement and a good upgrade ?
Thanks

Certainly would! Almost any graphics card would be better than integrated.
If you get it and install it (hoping you have the right slot for it) you will certainly notice the difference.
Do you know your PC's exact make and model number?

Yeah, Im in college now thou so don't have my pc here with me to check lol.
Im sure it will work thou ,its a new pc, got it last year, this friend is a computer tech so Im gonna bring it over to his workshop tomorow and should be able to sort something out, he told me that before he upgraded , his geforce 5700 was averaging around 60-90 fps in guild wars with no shaders, at the moment, the max i get really is 30, and as soon as i turn around it drops to 15~ , it's so unstable.
I should have everything sorted tomorow. You can close this thread if you wish,
thanks for the help .

Good luck
The only reason I asked is that some PCs don't have a slot for a graphics card at all - true spawn of satan, so they are.

It would be much better a little better than what you are running now. At least you won't be relying on dedicated system memory anymore. Just make sure that you install driver for the card. You can't imagine how many people don't do that. XP won't pick up that card by default, however, Vista would.
