cant connect
I tried to play guild wars today. I clicked on the guildwars.exe icon and it said "connecting to arenanet" and then nothing. It stayed at 0% forever. I let it sit for 5 hours (went to get groceries) and it was still at 0% so i went into Guild Wars folder and theres only 3 files in there... I'm pretty sure there should be more than gw.exe and two other files.
So i uninstalled Guild Wars and when i attempted to reinstall it it came up "connecting to arenanet" and it loads(finally a moving bar). Then it stops. It loads for about 1 1/2 minutes then stops, and sits there. So I've got no guild wars and i can't reinstall it...this is highly frustrating. Is there a server issue or something?
My internet is fine. I play supreme commander online, crysis online, even tried WoW (got boring) they all work, but GW stays stagnant, so I'm assuming its an error at Anet. hopefully they fix it soon. id hate to have to play...*shutter* WoW. *VOMIT!*(no offense to wow players).

It took you 5 hours to get groceries?!?! lol, anyways...
The sheer amount of people that are on 24/7 AFKing Nine Rings and participating in all the festival events is sure to cause extreme lag, so that could be an issue. Also, do you have NOD32 Antivirus? It's notorious for blocking GW from loading at all (like you said was happening) - Check the official site on ways to by-pass it.

This problem has been reported alot lately, but I think people just keep making new threads. A guildie of mine is having similar problems. We've tried everything (well, alot). Wierd thing is other games work fine online. Hopefully it's a temp thing.

EVE online is another really good one. i hope that arenanet resolves this issue soon so i can continue playing gw.

It does this if GW can't connect to A-Net. Most likely a firewall or router is blocking access, either that or there's something wrong with your internet. What firewall(s) and router do you have?

Run GW with the -diag switch. Look for NetworkDiag.txt in your Guild Wars folder. Zip it up and post it here (attach).

Hmm, we should mention NetworkDiag.txt and ArenaNet.txt in a stickied FAQ somewhere. Most people don't know they exist...

What's really funny, is this is copypasta from another thread.
You originally said it.
LOL!
Agreed with Sticky though.
