Error Code=058
I have been having this problem for nine months now, and have just about given up on being able to play Guild Wars. Any help would be appreciated.
I have taken down mmy firewall each time I try to make an account, and it works if I just want to connect to ArenaNet... but whenever I type in my access key, it comes up with error code=058. I have a NetGear router that I'm using, and have followed all the instructions here: http://www.plaync.com/us/support/doc...i&p_lva=31 04
As for all the information that page asks for, I've contacted them and gotten no help at all. The NetGear router's model number is WGR614 v6, I'm at home, my firewall is down, I use Norton, Roadrunner provides my internet, I'm not sure about the type of internet, but it never just dies on me, and I'm somewhere in Ohio. There are some woods behind my house, but the trees have never interfered with my internet connection before.
There has never been a problem with any other games or connections; I've been able to play WoW and Neverwinter Nights [online], and the internet works fine most of the time. The problem exists on both the laptop and desktop, and I've never been able to play GW. Oh, and I've got the GotY edition, if that makes any difference.
Please help?

Norton is your problem.
It blocked me from WoW for the longest time. You need to do some Port Forwarding, get into your router (online not with a hammer) and open the ports manually. I rang support and they walked me through it (BT support that is, NC support are useless).
And it gave me a list of certain games that are regularly blocked, so i selected the one i needed and no further problems.
Hope it helps.

I've done that a few times, actually, and it hasn't helped. Also, as I said, I've been able to play WoW just fine, on both laptop and desktop.
I've thought about calling them, and I may do so sometime...

You can try opening port 80 since GW uses both port 80 and 6112. Make sure you follow the instructions in the link you provided exactly. Make sure you also open the ports on all firewalls installed on your PC or make sure all firewalls are disabled. Did you disable the windows firewall?
