Arena downloading files
It would be nice if they created a NPC that you could go to in the arenas.
Where you could download new updates for the arena.
I'm one of the sad dial-up players. Every time I log on and play in the arena
I have to download too many files, sometimes when I get done downloading the battle is over, you have to do it again, and hope its one you have allready done.
I'm sure the people are not happy to get in battle and they are alone.
Just let me say I'm sorry for that.
It would be nice to have DSL,but not all of us can have it.
It would just be nice if you are planning on playing in the arena you could walk up to a NPC get the new files and be able to get into battle.

When you logon, leave the game at the login screen. It automatically downloads any updates.
Also, you can add the -image flag to the shortcut. It will download all content and decompress all the maps. Makes for a large .dat file, but really speeds up load times. Remember to remove the flag afterwards.

Please explain this fully.
You said at the log on is this before or after you put in log in name and password.
What is and where do I do I use image flag.
If this can help playing the game I wouldn't mind the big download.
I have to wait for at one time or another.
thank you.

Right click the desktop shortcut> Properties> in the taget box and -image after the closing quotes. Make sure to add a space after the quotes. You'll need you internet connection running, and on dialup it will take a very long time to download all the content. You'll have to decide if it's worth the time.

Their ectos i think (seen by the "old woman face" you can kind of see in them)
Just leaving your game at the login screen (Before OR after you put in your password and stuff both work I think) and take in all their screaming stuff before you start playing.
Sounds alot easier than decompressing everything.

yes it is a long.I got about 13 mb an hour.
guess by doing this it probly get done in time to start the next set.
Which brings me back to the NPC in arena you could just get arena downloads.
Meaning I dont need all of Kaineng downloads and so on if I not going there during this game play.
Most downloads are not to bad (for dail-up) in PvE.I usally inter missions or new areas by myself just to download the files so I can join a group without to much sweat.
but early I was trying to fight in the arena (random) and I had quite afew battles had ended and I was kicked back to enter battle.
A number of times I got in to just to get kill by four people.
I'm sure I'm not the only one this happens to,and it can't be no fun for the DSL people to get into battle to find themselfs fighting 4 because the others are still downloading.Again I'm sorry for that.
Thank you guys for your help.

Confirmed, it works at character selection screen too (right after password entry) ; that's how I dl'ed Factions.
Felix_Wolf, you can reduce GW to a window, iconise and so on, d/l still works. You could let it roll while doing something else/sleeping ... You can also do it in fragments, download will 'resume' it's course with no loss (if that ain't good programming )

I love it when people who don't have dail-up give advice to us who do have dial-up.
Sit at the login and you'll get all the updates, for how long? I've left it for hours there and it was still going, it never stops it seems so how do you know when the arenas have been updated? you don't.
-image? yeh your isp will dissconnect you because your sessoin limit is up before this finish's. and then when you are done you'll have to do it again.
Meanwhile you've died of boredom.
Any update to the arenas should be downloaded when you enter the RA's or TA's, ie the staging area before you click enter battle.
