error 058
I have read the faq and still can't seem to connect anymore.
I am currently in MD for the summer. The ISP here is Comcast. I am running Windows XP Sp2
The Modem is a a modem/router combo. Netgear CG814WGv2.
It feeds into my Apple Airport Extreme Base Station, which is directly connected via ethernet cord to my computer.
I have added GW as an exception in the Firewall. Added Both 80 and 6112 ports as exceptions in the firewall.
In the Apple Airport Extreme, I added both those ports to be forwarded.
I have set a static IP address on the computer.
Still can't connect
Advice?

Comcast uses rolling IPs I do believe. You will need to set it to automatically find the IP.

Code=058 "Guild Wars was unable to connect to any login servers. This is very likely caused by an Internet routing issue

You said you set a static IP on the PC. Don't use a static IP.
Have the computer automatically detect IP settings, where you setup the static IP.

While this isn't the cause, you should update to SP3.

I had this same problem and I did everything suggested by people to solve the problem, nothing worked. After 2 weeks i gave up downloaded the client from gw.com and reinstalled the whole thing. It worked straight away but with the draw back of having to redownload all the content. I tried to put the old gw.dat in the new directory and it corrupted gw again. I installed gw on my external hardrive and put that corrupted .dat file in. I swapped computers and it worked. Went back and put the corrupted dat in the new directory and once again it didnt work. I have no solution or no conclusion all I can recomend is that u reinstall gw and just move on

Try using a Dynamic Ip setting inside your router, not static.

Just to make sure, you forwarded these ports in your router as well right?

I have been having these problems since the past two weeks. Today I figured out that the problems with the connection were being caused by NOD32 antivirus. I couldn't believe it since I have been playing GW with this antivirus for years. But I guess the problem was raised with the latest update of V3 of the antivirus. To solve the problem I just changed a small setting in the antivirus and GW is working as normal again.

Goto setup then => enter entire advanced setup tree then => click on web access protection and disable the check box next to it (if i recall correct that caused problems with GW)

Did you accidentally disable the IPv6 protocols? Disabling them can sometimes lead to this random crap.
Did you power cycle the router and disable the internet connection and then re enable it? Power cycle the router by unplugging it for 45 seconds, and then plug it back in.
