I think it is fear mongering as far as any of us are concerned, because anyone using that ability to intercept emails is surely not going to use it on us. It'd be for something way more sinister.
Even if they were after random things like bank accounts, it's really something that has already been going on for a long time and I don't think you are at much more risk than you were before. I really wouldn't worry about it, the fact is - is that if there is a will there is a way, if something has been done, it can be undone by hackers, if they want you, they will get you.
So just shrug it off I guess, if you are paranoid then don't use online banking, then they can't real life screw you at least.

It's called DNS-Cache-Poisoning and yes, it's quite a big one. (The article is bad btw, just flew over it)
All major OS like WindowsXP/Vista, MacOSX, Linux and *BSD have fixes avaible by now. Make sure you have installed the latest updates. That said, the problem is not really (only) on your client side, so your ISP - or from whoever you get your DNS-resolution needs upgrades in the first place. By now - the problem is known for some while - that should be the case - for all the big ISPs at least.
If you don't know if your ISP is secure use 208.67.222.222 or 208.67.220.220 as your DNS-resolver (opendns.org).

There's something called um...Anti Virus 2009(It got on my computer when I clicked on a website, mp3 NOT pr0nz haha). It's a rogue program that makes you think you have viruses by popping up messages telling you to buy their product to fix it. It said I had like 39 viruses, then it said 41, then 40, and I was like wtf? Just google Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and it gets rid of it. OR type: Remove Anti Virus 2009
I was hella paranoid because it MIMICS WINDOWS MESSAGES, and looks exactly like the security page in Control Panel. I was like "oooh shit!" and got Norton 2008 ^_^ I figured out that the thing was a rogue program, but I needed the new Norton anyhow.

Ew Norton.. Quick! SymNRT to the rescue!
By the way, you may like some of the applications listed in my Anti-Malware Toolkit, they help to clean and remove infections. MBAM is in there too :P
