What would you do?
A guy in my guild has a problem. The graphics in Rata Sum crash his computer. He has a warrior there that he cannot get out. He's had this problem for a few months.
The last few weeks, he's been talking about it a lot. Tonight, he asked if I could log in for him and move his warrior out. I told him that he doesn't really know me. I wouldn't do anything, but that I'm not sure I would trust anyone - even a longtime guildmate - with that info. He keeps going back and forth, but I don't blame him for not wanting to do it.
I suggested he just find a friend with a good computer, download the client, and do it that way. He says he doesn't know anyone close with a good enough computer.
We tried to team up in Rata Sum, but he can't click the accept button, because he gets an error message that prevents the mouse from doing anything. I can see his character standing there, but he can't do it.
After I convinced him it probably wasn't a good idea to have me do it, he's been trying to think of ways I could give him something as "insurance". I'm not going to risk anything on my account over his issue.
Any ideas?

Just do it. He trusts you, so help the guy out.
If it makes you feel better, tell him to change his password as soon as you're done.

unkleanone had the best idea, and doing it Parsons way is pretty good, as long as he trusts you not to steal anything.

What's your problem? Guild trip all of a sudden? Do you not have any self trust?
Stop being so selfish and help the poor guy out. Gosh this makes me irritated

This is a common problem. I've also had mates with this very same thing happen. They had to resort to a reinstall...

He had this problems for a few months? Honestly, just map his guy out of the area. Nothing else is going to quit his whining. :P

Well if something happens to his account, he'll blame hallomik. If it really is a graphics problem then I'd suggest he try what unkleanone said.

What could possibly happen in a procedure that would take less than two minutes to do?

I suggested he turn his graphics all they way down. He already tried.
I suggested he change his password right after I moved his warrior out of Rata Sum, but now he's too nervous to give me his info. I don't totally blame him.
Now he suggested I give him my account info as "insurance". I'm not up for that trade.

This exact same thing happened to me when using my old laptop with crappy onboard graphics. I had my ranger stuck there for ages. I had to borrow a computer with more powerful graphics, download the GW client onto it and then get my ranger out. Happily I've now got a much better laptop.
I would say never, ever, give your GW log-in details to anyone, except maybe a trusted friend that you know irl. Much as I like my guildies and much as we help each other out (moving stuff between accounts etc) I doubt if any of us would pass log-in details to each other.

Not talking about something happening now. Hell it could be 6 months from now. If he signs up for "the gw2 beta" and then finds that he can't log into his account anymore, he'll blame hallomik. If he does anything stupid(and while I don't know him, in my experience a lot of people do stupid things on the internet.) that could cause his account to get stolen or screwed with then he'll blame hallomik without even thinking about it. Of course this has just been my experience. (Or well, people that I play with's experience.)

You're basing everything off of 'what if' scenarios. All of which, would have no connection with Hallomik helping this guy out. Not that he can now anyway, because he royally screwed it up and made the guy all paranoyed.

so let me get this straight.
you refuse to help this guy out because you don't think he should trust you with his account info.
if you don't want to steal his stuff help him out.
if you want to steal his stuff help him out and steal his stuff.
i don't see any reason to go with "don't help him because for all he knows i might steal his stuff"

OK - here's how it played out...
I told him I wouldn't give him my account info, but that he could hold some of my minis while I moved his warrior. He agreed to this.
When I got to storage, I realized all my minis are on my Rit, so I offered 100 lockpicks instead. He accepted.
He gave me his account info and I told him I'd need about 3 minutes.
He kept logging in and booting me off about 5 times, but I finally got his warrior out of Rata Sum.
I logged back in as me, and he was really, really happy. I opened the trade window, and then he quickly logged out for about 5 minutes.
I laughed at myself, but after those 5 minutes he came back and told me GW had crashed. He opened up a trade window and gave me my picks back.
Then he asked if I had any spare gold.
The end.

Its sort of a "don't do buisness with friends or family" kinda of thing. They didn't seem to really trust each other enough not to worry about it so I'd say it was risky. Glad to hear everything worked out okay.

Well it's good that panned out alright. Personally I still think that riskey (funny he kept booting you ), but so long as it's done and he's changed his info it's alright.
I'm lucky in that I have another fair-graphic'd computer at my immediate disposal and that my boyfriend plays Guild Wars as well. He's already gotten me festival hats and I've vanquished for him. If I can't trust him with Pixels what can I trust him with? Hehe.
