I'm having a problem downloading new areas. For instance it took me a bit over an hour to download Champions Dawn in Nightfall. Is there any possible fix or solution to this issue?

If you just installed the game it will download alot of files for each area, I suggest you run the game with -image and leave pc on overnight. Once its done remove the -image command and run the game normally. The total filesize is around 4.7gb.

More specifically, Right Click the guild wars icon > Properties > shortcut tab

Then under 'target' type -image after everything.

All been said I guess create a shortcut to GW, right click choose properties and add "space" then -image at the end of the line.
In my case the line looks like this "H:\Games\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image.

As they say this will give you a complete update to the game but there is a downside.
If its taking an hour to download that one area then the -image command will take a long long time.

It will stop the delays as you move from area to area but you will need to set aside some time for the command to work its magic.

If by chance you have a friend with the same game and its fully updated you could get that burned onto a dvd or other storage and use that dat file on your system.
Pretty certain that would work, someone give me a heads up if that's incorrect.

You didn't say what sort of internet connection you have. More info is needed.
If it's dial-up, you'd have to just suck it up.
If it's "high-speed", that does seem to be an unusually long time to download one area. It could be caused by many things. Your ISP could be throttling back your download to save bandwidth, or you could be experiencing a temporary period of signal dropouts caused by the usual internet crap going on lately. Or maybe a virus program is running in the background or it or some other app is downloading updates, etc.

The "-image" command could be used to download everything in one shot, but if your connection continues to run at that sort of rate, it would take days.
