All been said I guess create a shortcut to GW, right click choose properties and add "space" then -image at the end of the line.
In my case the line looks like this "H:\Games\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image.
As they say this will give you a complete update to the game but there is a downside.
If its taking an hour to download that one area then the -image command will take a long long time.
It will stop the delays as you move from area to area but you will need to set aside some time for the command to work its magic.
If by chance you have a friend with the same game and its fully updated you could get that burned onto a dvd or other storage and use that dat file on your system.
Pretty certain that would work, someone give me a heads up if that's incorrect.
