You might not have any problems with ventrilo, but for people who do have problems like I had, when I tried to run ventrilo and all what happened is, it was completly blank or it started and you got the MSG: Synchronizing / MSG: Contacting server.

To make this whole story short.. what's it all about?

1. If you had the MSG : Contacting server displayed - Your problem was in your connection/DSN.

2. If you had MSG : Synchronizing displayed you either had to unlock some of your ports on your router, turn off your firewall, well in general you had a lot of messed up stuff.

The easiest solution is to download http://hotspotshield.com/ (read the FAQ there), run it and you will be able to connect with no problems at all. The only bad side about this program is that after 6h on ventrilo it will disconnect you automaticly and you will be forced to run ventrilo again.

I hope I helped some of you out there, I know how frustrating it had to be, that there were only forums of people letting you know to open ports and you didn't have specific numbers ect.

i downloaded and ran the hotspot shield and it hasnt seemed to work for me

i used to make use of hotspot shield everytime so i can use vent and it worked perfectly. Its my only means of using ventrillo and playing GW. But now whenever i connect to hotspot i cant get on gw because the ips are banned.. is any 1 else having this problem
