Default No boot

hey all,

I am having an issue with one of my comps the boot screen that u can press DEL to enter the bios (the black one that tells u all installed components slave/master etc) It freezes on this screen and actually doesnt even show the components installed its basically just showing the chip and thats it. There is no flashing cursor and it wont let me enter the bios at all it just hangs on that screen. Yesterday it started up ok but was very slow loading even windows.

comp is 12 mnths old with good antivirus and nuthing detected to note.

Sounds like the small battery on your motherboard expired, or the bios got corrupted period.

Might try reset your bios to default. (How to see mb manual)

Change battery

New bios. (This is NOT flashing the bios thats there, i typed NEW. This you dont want, new mb would be cheaper.)

EDIT: oops almost forgot about something. Check your HD cables. I had something simular happening to my system last year. Those tiny SATA cable pluggs can be a pain.

One of the main things that's checked at that point, are the installed drives. Usually, if you leave it at that screen long enough it will come up with a message telling you what has failed (but not always).
Anyway, open up the machine and make sure all the cables on the hard drive and optical drive are fully seated. It sometimes helps to unplug them and plug them back in again. If that doesn't work, you may have to take it to someone to have it looked at.
Also, make sure all cooling fans are running. In some motherboards/cpus the system will stall if something overheats.
It could even be a problem with the power supply. (Check that the PS fan is running too.)

Sounds like loose cables somewhere.... I put together a computer last month that would hang nearly every time, as you described, and it didn't stop until I had rerouted and connected every stinking cable in it 2 or 3x.... it's been great ever since. It's worth a shot, just be careful of static electricity of course, and the urge to smash it all with a big heavy hammer........ :/
