hello, im new here and i have a major problem. My Wireless connection (if it is my connection) is lagging GW tremendously. i get into a town, maybe walk a few feet, then my character stops and everything else just stands there. then i get the infamous error code=007 and im done. i dont know if its because my wireless usb adapter is sucking it up, or what.

Computer Specs:
Dell Dimension 8250
Intel Pentium 4 processor 2.53 Ghz
512mb of RAM ( it hasn't been a problem in the past)
Belkin Wireless G USB Adapter (54MBps, updated drivers and all)
Norton Internet Security(allowing GW and GW Launcher to use the internet)

Should i invest in a better Way of networking(i can't do anything wired) or should i just give up on Guild Wars? i hope you guys can help me. Thanks!

I have a similar problem, In a town i constantly get the 007 and the reconnect error when i'm outside, it doesn't disconnect since i can connect again instantly, i think its just lag, if anyone can help great but i think its something maybe on Anet's end, btw i also have wireless but mine is a wireless card with an aerial on the end, but nevertheless it is wireless.

yea i really dont want to spend any big money for an upgrade i just wnat GW running smoothly with my wireless crap.

What kind of Wireless Router are you using?
Are there any other networks in the area?
How far is it from your router to the PC?
Do you use any other wireless devices (phones, radios, etc) in the area?
Have you checked if you have the latest version of your firmware? (For both the wireless adapter and router)
Have you checked to see if your ports are open? (http://www.portforward.com)

A lot of this can affect how your wireless network performs.

Do you run xp or vista. If you are running vista and trying to play guildwars I strongly recommend you upgrade your memory to atleast a gig.

Router is Netgear WGR614 v6 54MBps

not really anything interfering, and i have 4 bars to indicate an excellent connection every time. i also have a few instances where when i exit Guild Wars my wireless utility is notifying me that my connection is lost. this happens about a fourth of the time.

is there any way to have that portforwarding thingy for free? i dont think its worth 30 bucks. i have port 6112 open for guild wars (i think.) i did that netgear port triggering/forwarding interface and opened port 6112 but im not sure if it knows that i opened it for Guild Wars.

Everyone has lag and problems with 007's at times, but 512MB of Ram?

It's a wonder you can do anything with that. Just running the game alone must be a problem. I'm running GW on a desktop pentium 4 machine that is 6 years old (also on a brand new Centrino 2 Laptop) but I upgraded the RAM from 1GB to 2GB and it made a big difference in running the game. It's nowhere close to the Laptop, but it's fast enough to do necessary things in-game.

yea, 512mb of RAM wont do much but every time i ask my parents if i can buy it then theyre all like "you spend a lot of time on the computer, so it must be working fine" but like i said the RAM isn't the problem i think its what the guy said about the ports. i am using Windows XP SP3.

yeh i got 1gig but im running XP home, there is 1 network nearby (my nextdoor neighbours), I am about, 4 yards away from the Router (with 1 wall) oh and my router is a BTVOYAGER 2110-7A

Sounds like something is causing the wireless adapter to drop the connection. Could be either a burst of interference (like from someone answering a phone call on a wireless handset) or something else.

Reason why I mentioned portfoward.com was to help you make sure you had your ports open, nothing else. I'd still take a look at http://www.portforward.com/english/r...Guild_Wars.htm and make sure your modem configuration looks like how it does on there.

Again, check to see if your firmware is up to date by going to the manufacturer's web site and looking for their respective downloads or support section. Check the firmware for both, your router and your wifi adapter. Make sure both are up to date.

And I have to second what others are saying here, upgrade that RAM pronto! Even if you have to start shoveling snow or something; 512 MB isn't really enough.

oh i forgot to mention that i have a ATI RADEON 9800 Graphics card 256mb of memory

i will look into your port forwarding idea. it should work. I also have a different ocmputer that has a less sophisticated graphics card but it has 768mb of RAM. it is currently in the possession of my brother who is going away to college after this coming summer. it also has a wireless connection =P but i played guild wars in the past and it ran well even on the wireless.

as i said, ill look into the ports.

Well, these are some tips that expand on what I said earlier as well as add a few new tips along the way but fine tuning a wireless network can be daunting if not impossible in some areas.

You can look into purchasing a Wireless Repeater but that can often complicate things as said in this article.

Are you saying that GW ran fine in the past, or that other things didn't have a problem in the past. Or, in other words, did GW ever run fine or have you always had this problem?
512mb of RAM is a very small amount to run WinXP, plus GW, plus wireless networking, plus who knows what other little RAM hoggers you may have running in your systray (MSN, etc.). You may find that the problem cures itself if you increase the RAM.

It could also be one of those "wireless looking for alternate connections" things - which I forget the details on atm, but essentially your wireless network may be pausing to look for a better connection every so often.

Well
I am playing wow on my eee pc (1gb ram 900 mhz cpu) works perfect on low detail,, but teh connection just sucks and guild wars is the only one having problems with my connection.

If i play on my computer(just with an cable, no WLAN) it has teh same problem..
On other games i never have any lag or something,, so thats not the problem
