Angry Extreme Lag issues

I got Guild Wars Factions August 2008. It ran fine at about 22fps on my laptop. I stopped playing between October and December and just yesterday started playing again. The game was then running at 8fps, and about 5 minutes later went down to 1 or 2. I defragged my disk (it had like 900000 clusters whatever those are) and started GW up again and it ran normal for about 2 mins, then dropped down to 8fps, then to 2. I defragged again and again it had a ton of clusters and fragmented files on the GW.dat.

I uninstalled the game and reinstalled using my cd, which didn't work, and even reinstalled using the download from the GW site. Help?

What really sucks is that I just bought Night Fall and now it is almost impossible to play.

This is EXACTLY what happened to me.

I stopped playing Guild Wars for 5 months (I have all campaigns).

Then I decided to play it again, and the first day everything was fine, and today, when I tried to play, the lags had rendered the game un-playable.
I've also done all the De-frags, Re-installing, Shutting off Firewall+Anti Virus.

I use a wireless router, but I never had any problems before (until now).

Help us? :P

I use a wireless router as well but I know it's not my internet connection because other online games I have run beautifully with no problems, it's just this one game, oh and Crysis too but I don't think that game was made to run on laptops.

Yes the problem seems to be over the last few weeks...Yes we had the Wintersday ect

But it is very apperant on my pc so I dont play as much I just log off

It should be added yes I have used pingplotter ..unofficial ..... but G/W have asked me to use it in the past and send them a ticket

I also take down the ip addy if you go over the Dot on right side and send this also....

I have seen it clear after a week or so after any sort of promotion
The more people send a ticket with information that anet can use the better

Last night in agroup of 4 and everyone had lagg at same time and cleared at same time..coincedence ....no

Highlander, How do I send them a ping plotter? I'd like to help them..."plot the pings? :P ".
I've seen this on different games, they see the ping plotter, and then know what to fix.
So could you send me a place where I can download the ping plotter? and tell me where to submit my results?

I'm having extreme lags in the last week.

500-800 ms is "normal" now, sometimes it goes up to even 10k.

Same here , my usual ping was 100-200 ms , and not 200 ms is just a wish. My average ping is now 390ms.

THE Pingplotter was only used after a few emails from them when i disputed the fact it was my end..

All i would say if you ...know...that its not your side and have proof as I had my isp do some work for me also..(establishing who was at fault)

It was only then that they advised how to use it and send it back via the ticket raised...as I said it was an unofficial request ....so its not a standard ,,send your ticket and see what it may bring with as much info as possible

You all need to run a traceroute to see exactly where the issue is. If one of the hops on the way to ANET's servers is the issue, you need to contact the admin of that hop (you can acquire that from a whois inquiry of the IP.

You run it form within Guild Wars at the login screen, there's a clickable link.

Default how to run trace route

Start > Run > Cmd

at the command prompt type:

tracert www.arenanet.com

Large hops over 100ms are worry-some.

I did the tracert thing, it told me i have a "maximum of 30 hops". But my game still lags.

Plus, after the number "9" everything gets "timed out"...is this somehow relevant?

30 hops is a referance number to make sure each hop or "ping" is accurate, we need to see a "ms" number

This is rediculous. I log on after 2 weeks of not playing and now im lagging like hell too. 2 weeks ago i played home district and korean district with 100-200 ping average now its anything between 500 - 800.. I remember something like this happening a while back around a year ago i used to play international servers with green ping and after a few months of not playing i returned to find my average ping had gone up to 400 - 500. Is this another server downgrade? PvP is literally unplayable now my ping is jumping up and down like a pogo pro on crack and i'm rubberbanding all over the place. Yeah... thanks Anet why don't you render pvp useless...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but fps has nothing to do with lag. They're 2 different things.
