Way to Get Around the MMO Blocker at College?
I thought of using a proxy or trying to sock or tunnel, but I don't really know how. Does anyone know how to do this?
Btw, GW will load but the college's firewall makes it only load at 1kb/s
Thanks

so..
As far as trying to get around the firewall, Any decent administrator will just keep locking you down. They would notice all the bandwith you would be using its pretty easy to spot.
If you chose to go ahead they probably have port access limited and you will need to do some http tunneling. This creates a proxy locally through which all applications can be routed; the proxy then wraps all packets in https data requests so that the firewall allows them through, and then they get decrypted by http-tunnel servers which send them on to their destination.
your 3rd option which is not as terrible as it seems if your doing GW's is if they let you have a landline phone run dial up.

Well, I'm just getting my masters, so I don't have a dorm room or anything to use a phone line. So, option 3 is out.
I was hoping to do it on the WiFi. Is that possible? And how in the world would I do option 2?

Stupid answer, but it works for me... just avoid using university resources. Most phone companies seem to offer decent DSL services for around 15 bucks a month these days... I suppose you could also contact the university web administrators and point out that packet shaping was recently ruled to be illegal by the US courts... might cause them to at least reconsider YOUR bandwidth usages...

well depents on how your school is protected.
our school got netsupport school 10, its funny.
install that shit on USB stick and you can do almost everything.
even shutting down PC's in classroom and take over mouse.
and also, if you pull LAN cable out jest after you log in on school PC netsupport cant find your account and gives you temp. admin account.
so netsupport school = fail

These restrictions are applied for a reason. Talk to a network administrator about it if you want help with it.
Attempting to circumvent their firewall and other blocking software could result in (worst case) you getting expelled.
