I did a search but could not find anything that came close to my issues.

While in GW, my system will suddenly shut down an reboot without any warning whatsoever sometime within minutes of each other. At times, I can play for an hour or more before it does it, other times on for 5-10 mins and it acts up. This issue only started in the last month or so.

Anyone have a clue?

I installed Everest (trial version) to monitor system temp and all appears within normal....GPU (ambient) 46-47C, Dimm 40-41C, CPU 50-61C, Video card 41-67C( using CCC ).

Intel Tappen D945GTP board,
Intel Pentium, dual core 2.80 GHz,
DDR2-533 (266MGz) 1GB

Radeon X850 with 256 MB on board memory.

My guess would be a faulty PSU or overheating.
I would suggest having everest keep a log file of the temps (if it can do that) and see what temps are when it actually crashes. It may be some spike in temps that normal use isnt revealing.
I have no idea how to test the PSU....someone else should have advice.

Had same problem once..
Take it back to the shop, and let them fix it. (waranty should cover it).
Prolly caused by overheating or bad hardware.

Well, does this occur only when you have Guildwars on?
Try just let your computer be on for 2hours, if nothing happens.. then try some other game for 2hours, if nothing still happens..

Right click (My) Computer > Properties > Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery section > Uncheck Automatically Restart.

This happens to me on too. It only happens when theres a countdown. (entering a mission or HA or whatever). It doesn't happen every time though. If i just make the window tiny while its about the do the countdown ( not minimize it) it doesn't happen. Its something with my video card

That was my guess from the start, a complete system failure shutdown and reboot would almost certainly point to a faulty Power Supply Unit, in which case you will want this fixed sooner rather than later, else it could lead to hardware failure,

If it is PSU failing, everest will not detect it, i wouldnt even say it would be GFX overheating as it would slow the game down as it got to hot, and probably cause a BSOD before it crashed.

Try this. (providing your on XP )

Start>Control Panel>Administration Tools>Event Viewer

Look under Application and System, if something else is causing the system to crash other than GW, it will be recorded in here, if it shows nothing is crashing/erroring out, id run with the PSU failing.

Post your PSU specs. Random system shutdowns are usually due to a crap PSU frying up your shit and causing a reboot.

Did you by any chance install that Radeon yourself? Did you check to see if your PSU could handle it before the install? Most graphics cards have a minimum Amp/Wattage on volt lines for the PSU req. in order to be safely used. GW could be requesting your graphics card to perform work that it cannot do with a non satisfactory PSU for its specs. This could also cause your problem.

Random PC restarts can be caused by a blue screen. It's a bit more common too.

Thanks everyone for all the replies.
I think I also narrowed it down to the PSU.
The system is 3 yrs old and for the last 6-8 months it has run almost 24/7.
The PSU is a 350W peak unit.
The original video card was a Radeon 700Pro with a 300W requirement.
That one quit due to a cooling fan failure.
The X850 has a 350W requirement minimum and has been installed for about 8 months.
So I'm guessing that the PSU is being overtaxed when playing GW.
I tried different things to reproduce with other programs ( DVD's, Flight simulator, Ect.) but could not get it to quit.

I'm off to the store tomorrow to get something bigger, hopefully it will solve the issues.
