Greetings all,

I recently bought a new computer and it seems to hate Guild Wars or something. It runs EVE Online perfectly, and at max settings like a dream, but when I try to play guild wars I can't seem to go above 20 fps at any given moment even with all the graphics settings turned down.

I haven't been able to figure this one out.

Here are my system specs.

Windows XP Professional version 2002 Service Pack 3
Intel Core 2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13 GHz
2.75 GB DDR ram
GeForce 7950 GX2 (SLI)
GeForce 7950 GX2 (SLI)

I'm seriously at a loss. I find it hilarious this setup has zero problem with EVE Online at max settings but with Guild Wars it acts like it's the hardest thing ever to work with.

Any help?

Also, I'm using 190.38 beta NVIDIA drivers. They are arguably the best ones out. I tried the most recent drivers and they actually made the performance in EVE Online worse.

have you tried to disable SLI? GW often performs better without it....

I have and it didn't improve the performance much. Maybe 5 fps.

This GFX card was also designed I think as a dual setup. It's not two actual separate cards but one card with the connections for the monitor and the other has none, it's just connected to the first.

I can't tell if I am actually able to run single GPU. The NVIDIA control panel lets me select Single GPU performance and even lets me change from Multi display to single. I've toyed with all these settings with no luck.

I just don't get it it's such a puzzle to me.

It's like putting a Play station 1 game on your PC and have it play choppy while something like Crysis works just fine.

Really weird.

I was going to say the same. It seems GW dosen't get along well with SLI enabled.

first, i would suggest removing one of your graphic cards. the second card, believe it or not, is doing nothing. this is because windows XP (more specifically, DX9) does not allow scaling beyond two GPUs. since you are using geforce 7950 GX2, you've already have two GPUs on one card.

second, i would suggest rolling back drivers. try forceware 169.21, which i've always had good results with on my older geforce system.
