Serious CPU usage issue with gw.exe
Ok today I noticed a potentially major issue with GW. When GW is running in a window, it uses about 13% cpu usage, while parked in my guildhall.
However, when you MINIMIZE gw.exe, the CPU usage spikes to 50% and stays there. Furthermore, Memory usage starts climbing once minimized....slowly to be sure, but it keeps going up....possible memory leak.
1) Open Taskmanager
2) Open GuildWars
3) Reduce GW to a window
4) Check CPU usage (~13-16% for me)
5) Minimize GW (memory usage drops here, as expected, then begins climbing)
6) Check CPU usage (~50-55% for me)
I have confirmed this behavior with 3 other people in my guild/alliance. Can other people confirm/deny?
Very much request a response from Anet. Thanks.
EDIT: I'm using Win XP 32-bit, fully updated, virus scanner disabled for this test.

Mine:
Windows XP SP2 32-Bit
Mobo: Intel i945 PM
RAM: 2 GB
CPU: 2.33 GHz Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo (4MB L2 Cache)
Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon x1600 (256 MB)
Minimzed: 100% CPU for 1-3 Seconds, than hang at 56% from there on out while minimized.
Memory Usage: Creeps up slowly, but it still does, which isn't good. I wouldn't leave GW minimized for more than 6 hours depending on your RAM amount.

Few days ago, while playing GW my monitor suddenly turned black, and everything freezed. It lasts for 3 or 4 days so far, after some time of playing, it just dies. First I tought its cause of my computer cause I have some hardware issues, but it only happenes in GW. So after I`ve read this post Im in doubt.
Will check tommorow with memory.
Btw am using WinXp 32bit

This is a known issue. When it is minimized, it keeps track of what is happening and then tries to do it once restored. It will eventually build up when minimized.
Search is your friend.
Just leave it windowed, instead of full-screen, and it will be fine while you do other things.

Question - are you looking at the cpu usage for only gw.exe, or the total cpu usage? If it's the total cpu usage it could be that windows is doing background tasks while GW is minimized (such as indexing the hard drive.)

I've asked the team to look into this issue. Having said that, though, the increase in memory usage for games is normal. It increases because because it is slowly caching data, which is normal.
However, if you're experiencing any loss in game performance as a result of these issues, please do contact Customer Support.
