Hi guys, I recently ordered a new PC off of HP and a new monitor with it (HPw2207h). The monitor arrived first and I tried it on my OLD computer. Surprisingly, when I turn it on it says "No Input Signal" for VGA then it goes to sleep mode. My old computer has 5500FX (yes, its REALLY old). Is it because of the video card or what? Please Help!

It's probably your connector. The new monitor has a new type of connector and the videocard an old input, so it won't pass the signal. Check the box of your monitor and the box of the videocard to see if you have one of those in-between-thingies in there. If not, $3 at a local computershop, or just wait for your new PC.

does your monitor plug into the graphics card? if yes, then there's something wrong with the monitor.

No, the cables I connected is the VGA (the blue one), audio (green pin), usb cable, and the power cable.

did you connect the VGA to the graphics card, and not the integrated graphics (i'm assuming you have one)?

This is a FX 5500

D-sub and DVI, so that shouldn't be the problem.

The problem could be that the new monitor can't sync low enough to what your graphics card was set to before (I had this problem with an ancient machine, can't for the life of me remember how I solved it

)

You could try it with a DVI-D lead rather than the VGA d-sub. I'd recommend getting one even if the monitor was working perfectly

I connected the VGA to the graphics card, I originally connected it to the integrated card. >.< DOH!

(Still buy that DVI-D cable, though - you won't regret it.)
