Disgraceful.

Someone should start a "Post your rig!" thread or something.

O wait...

:P

Now you may overclock to your heart's content, just no complaining when it takes your liquid 3 days to cool back down. :P

I will, I will - I'm working the wrong damn shift to do anything about it right now

This is being typed on a wonderful NT4 system running IE6. Badly. My company are misers.

Speaking of which, can someone decipher "x86 family 15 model 2 stepping 7" - I've always wondered what's inside

Better than supporting a Vista environment with legacy servers (yes we still have a 2000 server somewhere around here)... hehe!

As for the deciphering, read this article. Pretty good read...

Anyone who bashes quality products here (like Thermaltake) needs to *pull head out of own ass*

I have three "waffle irons" sitting in my room right now. NT4 server is so damn loud I'm thinking of hooking up the fans to the AC system in my house to spread some more air around.

We have mostly new gear where I work, which I was very surprised at. Get to setup four servers this afternoon. Dual Quad Xeons here I come!

Likewise... we have been phasing out legacy hardware for awhile. Yesterday we removed an old Voicemail box that was like three feet tall. HAHAHAHAHA. I almost threw out my back lifting the thing.

My home servers are on an old PII (Fedora) and VMWare Server (3 Windows Server 2003 R2 x64) running Fedora 9 x64 off of my main gaming rig. lol

I always get a kick out of how much underused most hardware is. People buy a quad core and only play crysis. hahahahahahaha

I know. Quads at home are basically unnecessary for most people. Heck, even duals are most of the time.

I use ALL my gear though, lol.

Hmm, going with the Zalman (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=HS-031-ZA) as the others are either out of stock or, in my opinion, too damn big (reviews mention motherboard bowing).

OcUK don't do AeroCool or Thermaltake fans, sadly - what would you recommend out of this lot?

As an aside, tech forums seem to be split between people who actually know stuff and people who champion certain products because they own them. I've been guilty of the latter before now, but I'm gradually getting more informed, thanks to this forum. I've visited several tech forums in the past, but this is the friendliest and least elitist I've had the pleasure to know

I've ran into a few times when a dual isn't enough and i coulda used the extra power of a quad.

I just hit a limitation with my dual core about four months ago. Quads dropped and I jumped on one of them. Here is what I jumped on...

Great system and good bargain for the price. You can pick up 4GB of SLI memory for 75$ as long as you use two different mailing names. *wink wink*

Before buying a new cooler, I would try reseating the existing cooler with some Artic Silver thermal compound. Be sure to clean the old goo off.

Zalman makes great CPU fans. You wont go wrong there. I actuall perferred that fan over some of the Thermaltake (only because of space). I have used that exact fan twice on custom builds for people. Some newer cases come with that side fan/vent and it can really make installing cpu heatsinks/fans a pain in the nuts. That heatsink blades are actually pretty sharp. I have cut myself twice on two different Zalman heatsinks.

Wow, that's a really nice rig for that price. I would almost by that, but I've been spending too much money lately. Need to get a few other things squared away before I buy another rig. Bleh.

If you know what to look for, and have the software for it (also a little knowledge), you make out like a maniac.

Funny thing is, that same system with Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 would run you over a grand. hahahaha

Most definitely. Software, especially from Microsoft, is such a rip off it's ridiculous.

I'm sitting here with the OcUk site open, y'see.

I'm assuming the 120mm fans are the best option for airflow and quietness - I'm also making the huge assumption that they'll fit my case

I don't know what you have for space in your case. You have to measure out things. 120mm fans are definitely the best for airflow. get out the measuring tape.

I'm an idiot - I posted my case on the last page ><

"Support up to 9 x 120 mm fans (optional)"

Now I just need to know if there's any pros/cons with the particular fans that OcUK sell (above).
