So after not using my laptop for about a week, and i boot up my laptop and see that there are a ton of these red/yellow/blue lines all over the screen. What the heck is happening? Here is an image for all to see. Could it be something with my video card, or is it time to look into getting a new screen or what? BTW its an LCD screen on a toshiba qosmio g35-av600

So this happens in and out of Guild Wars?

It looks like your video card/LCD is toasted honestly.. that will probably require replacement.

yeah it does do it in and out of Guildwars. ugh im assuming for the cost of replacing the screen and/or video card i might as well just get a new computer considering this 1 is about 2 years old.

Ahh.. yeah, probably just ended up giving up on you. If it's still under warranty then I'd say send it in, if not, then probably just go for a new laptop if you feel the need.

I guess you could be safe by trying to find new drivers and stuff on the manufacturers website or something, but it really looks like a hardware problem to me, especially since it's not game related.

i doubt it is still under warranty but ill have to look. I've already tried updating the drivers, and even went as far as to take the laptop apart to clean it out, but i didn't find much dust in it as i just cleaned it a month ago. Thanks though Brianna.

yeah its your lcd mine did same thing thankfully thats bestbuy warranty pays off for once would cost $400-$500 to get it replaced but was covered

ugh thanks everyone, ill just go get a new comp instead of fixing it seeing as its not under warranty anymore

If you go to your computers manufacturer, you can sometimes find/order components....on my HP laptop, the screen was available to order at like 150 i think. Just take the old scren off....Not as difficult as the diagrams make it seem, and put the new one on.

Something else you can do is plug the computer into an external monitor. Not too portable, but if you leave it at home anyway, it should hold you over. Go to goodwill and buy a CRT monitor for ~5bucks

Actually, If the lines are not parallel and not all exactly vertical or horizontal, I'd think that the graphics hardware or driver may be at fault. If you can, plug the laptop into an external monitor and check - if the lines are still there, it's not the LCD that's at fault. (It's hard to tell from the picture - is it a screen capture or just a "picture" of the screen?)
If the lines are still there, you could try reinstalling the chipset drivers. Also, remove the RAM from the laptop and re-insert it. And, of course, blow the dust out of the rig and check that the cooling fan is running.
